Filipino actor Romnick Sarmenta shared a cryptic post on his X (formerly Twitter) account following the controversial arrest of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Minsan… Ang masasabi mo lang sa mga ito…. Eh di [wow]. Parang gulong ang buhay di ba? Pagdasal nating maging maayos lahat… At mapanagutan lahat ng mga dapat managot. Next?” Sarmenta wrote.

Minsan… ang masasabi mo lang sa mga ito…. eh di waw.

His post quickly gained traction online, with netizens sharing their own thoughts on the matter. One commenter stated, “They were so bold in abusing their power, unafraid that their abuses will haunt them.” Another wrote, “Madami ang dapat managot, at dapat managot silang lahat hanggang sa sukdulang abot ng batas. Dasal at kilos, pareho, ang kailangan,” which means.

Duterte was arrested upon landing in the Philippines after returning from Hong Kong with his family. The warrant for his arrest was issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC), citing crimes against humanity linked to his administration’s controversial war on drugs.

According to a 2017 year-end accomplishment report by the Office of the President under Duterte’s leadership, an estimated 20,322 drug suspects were killed in the country between June 2016 and November 2017. The ICC’s case against Duterte stems from allegations of extrajudicial killings and human rights violations during his six-year presidency.

Following his arrest, Duterte was reportedly transported to The Hague to face legal proceedings related to the ICC’s charges.
