Comedian Gene Padilla is currently under fire from netizens after Marjorie Barretto revealed in a tell-all interview with Ogie Diaz that he was not invited to the wedding of her daughter Claudia Barretto and Basti Lorenzo — contradicting his earlier emotional Instagram rant.
Gene previously posted his frustrations online after witnessing what he described as a heartbreaking moment, claiming his brother Dennis Padilla was treated merely as a “guest” at the wedding, not as the father of the bride.
“Napaluha at napaiyak si kuya sa mga nangyari… Umuwi na kami pagkatapos ng simbahan. Naawa ako sa nanay ko kasi naiyak na rin… Ang tagal na panahon na nanunuyo at nahingi ng atensyon ama niyo sa inyo mga anak… Dennis Dominguez Padilla… di pala father of the BRIDE! Guest of the BRIDE!” Gene wrote.

However, Marjorie quickly corrected Gene’s narrative in her interview, stating that only Dennis and their former mother-in-law were invited, not Gene.
“Gene, you were not invited to the wedding. With all due respect, my daughter has no recollection of you. Wala kayong naging relasyon,” Marjorie said bluntly.
This revelation triggered a wave of backlash online, with netizens accusing Gene of crashing the wedding and creating unnecessary drama.

“Imbes na pinahinahon mo ang kapatid mo, finuel mo pa. Ina-agitate mo pa,” Marjorie said. “Gene, pinagtatrabahuhan ng mga anak ko ang meron sila. Don’t punish them for their success.”
