Actor Wendell Ramos has officially withdrawn his candidacy for councilor in Manila’s District 4 (Sampaloc) ahead of the May 12, 2025 elections, citing his commitment to work and family as the reasons behind his decision.

In a Facebook post shared on Saturday, April 26, Ramos explained that after much reflection and discussions with his family, manager, and network, he made the difficult decision to step back from the political race.
“After careful consideration and heartfelt discussions with my family, manager, and network, I have made the difficult decision to discontinue my campaign due to prior work commitments and family matters,” Ramos wrote.
The actor clarified that he officially filed his withdrawal of candidacy with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) as early as January 31, 2025.
“To my dear constituents of District 4, Sampaloc, Manila, I would like to officially inform you that I have withdrawn my candidacy as Councilor as of January 31, 2025, at Comelec Manila for the upcoming May 12 elections,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to his supporters, Ramos said, “I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported me, welcomed me, and believed in my programs even before I filed my withdrawal. Your trust and encouragement mean more than words can express. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”
He also urged voters to continue to make wise choices as election day nears. “As election day approaches, I humbly urge everyone to vote wisely and choose leaders who will genuinely serve our beloved District 4, Sampaloc, Manila. God bless us all,” he added.
Wendell filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on October 5, 2024, under the party of Manila mayoral candidate Sam Verzosa. During the campaign period, he was often seen accompanying Versoza during various activities and community visits.
Currently, Wendell Ramos appears in the Kapuso action series ‘Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila’, starring alongside Ruru Madrid on GMA Network.
