Comedienne and actress Rufa Mae Quinto has confirmed that she and her husband Trevor Magallanes have officially gone their separate ways—even though they remain legally married.
In a candid interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’, Rufa Mae opened up about the emotional reality of their decision to part, citing respect and acceptance as the reasons they chose to stop holding on.
“Move on muna. Pero we respect each other.
Despite the split, Rufa admitted she still holds love for Trevor, but emphasized the importance of letting go when it’s clear the other person no longer wants to continue.
The couple, who married in 2016 and share a daughter named Athena, reportedly made efforts to save their marriage. However, Rufa said they ultimately realized they were simply better off apart.
Rufa Mae also revealed that the breakup affected their daughter deeply.
“Siyempre may pinagdaanan din si Athena, na-depress din siya and everything, pero lagi kong sinasabi na tomorrow is another day.”
She’s been honest with her daughter about the situation, constantly reminding her that her dad will always remain her dad no matter what.
Quinto also admitted she feared for Athena’s emotional adjustment, especially during the early stages of their decision to split.
Though their marriage may not be annulled yet, Rufa Mae made it clear that the chapter has ended. She and Trevor continue to co-parent and remain civil for their daughter’s sake.
Their relationship had been under scrutiny for some time, especially following Rufa’s public involvement in a Securities Regulation Code (SRC) violation case. Through it all, she has chosen to keep the peace and prioritize her child’s emotional well-being above all.
