Gerald Anderson has finally broken his silence on the long-standing accusations of being a cheater and a womanizer.
In his interview on ‘Toni Talks’ with host Toni Gonzaga, the actor responded candidly when asked how he handled people labeling him as a “babaero” or “cheater.”
“Alam n’yo kung sino ‘yung mga naging girlfriends ko, eh, hindi ko naman maitatago ‘yun. Alam n’yo, eh. ‘Pag sila ‘yung girlfriend ko, sila talaga. Walang iba,” Gerald said firmly.
When asked directly if he ever cheated, he answered without hesitation: “No!”
“Basta ‘pag naririnig na nagbe-breakup ka or wala na kayo, there has to be a reason,” he added. “Eh, hindi pwede na hindi lang talaga kayo para sa isa’t isa. Hindi pwedeng kayo lang dalawa ang dahilan.”
The actor also made it clear that he has no regrets about his past relationships.
“In terms of ‘yung mga past relationships ko, never ako nagkaroon ng regrets because happy ako nu’ng time na ‘yun, eh,” he shared.
Still, Gerald admitted he had shortcomings, especially in how he handled his relationships.
“Alam ko naman ‘yung nangyari, eh. Hindi ko sinasabing maganda, at the end of the day naging failure ako, eh,” he reflected.
When Toni asked, “So you admit na the failure was on your part?” Gerald admitted: “It was more on my part, and more on sana hinandle ko nang mas maayos. All I can say is I could’ve been a better person, a better partner. I should’ve been better sa process na ‘yun. I can’t take back ‘yung nangyari, and you know, not just her but ‘yung naging ibang girlfriend ko. It was always me. Ako talaga.”
He continued, “Maybe ‘yung stage ng buhay ko nu’ng time na ‘yun is hindi ko alam kung paano i-handle. Ang dami ko ring gustong gawin. Selfish reasons. Mas importante sa ‘kin ‘yung trabaho ko, mas importante sa akin ‘yung image ko.
“And then, ‘yun pala ‘yung pinaka-tinamaan — ‘yung career ko, ‘yung image ko, kasi ‘yun lang ‘yung focus ko instead of the feelings ng mga taong kasama ko.”
Looking ahead, Gerald shared how he has grown and is now applying those lessons to his current relationship.
“In my situation now, in my relationship now, nandu’n ako sa bigger picture lagi, eh. Lahat ng ginagawa ko is for the end game,” he said.
While he didn’t mention Julia Barretto by name, his reference to the “end game” had Toni Gonzaga smiling, clearly implying that Gerald’s heart is in the right place this time.
