The Atayde family sprang into action on Monday, July 22, as torrential rains and widespread flooding—brought on by the southwest monsoon—gripped parts of Quezon City.

Together, they extended much-needed assistance to residents of Barangay Paraiso, led by First District Representative Arjo Atayde and his mother, veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez.
According to a source close to the family, the Ataydes personally funded the relief operation, distributing essential sleeping supplies such as pillows, blankets, and mats to flood-affected constituents.
In viral photos shared from the ground, Sylvia Sanchez was also seen handing out hot meals—lugaw, sopas, bread, and biscuits—directly to evacuees, further highlighting the family’s hands-on approach to public service.
Beyond the Ataydes’ personal donations, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also provided additional aid, including rice, canned goods, and coffee.
For Cong. Arjo Atayde, the act of helping does not end with one relief drive. He reiterated his call for a comprehensive and NCR-wide flood management strategy, emphasizing the urgent need for tighter coordination between national agencies and local government units to resolve the long-standing issue of flooding in Metro Manila.
“Addressing this problem goes beyond temporary relief,” the congressman stressed in earlier statements. “We need a long-term solution that prioritizes infrastructure, coordination, and the welfare of our communities.”
The Atayde family’s united effort not only offered immediate support but also underscored their continuing commitment to service—both in and out of the spotlight.
