Black Ink is thrilled to announce the acquisition and upcoming release of its first Yaoi manhwa translated into Taglish, marking an exciting expansion of its offerings for Filipino BL (Boys’ Love) fans. Yaoi, a genre focusing on romantic or sexual relationships between male characters, has gained a dedicated following worldwide, and Black Ink is bringing this beloved genre closer to local readers than ever before.
In conjunction with the book release, Black Ink will open its very first BL Café, welcoming the public to a space celebrating BL culture. The café will be located at The Center, 3rd Floor, JRich Corporate Center, Sto. Domingo Avenue, Quezon City, and is scheduled to open from August 22 to 24, 2025.
During the soft launch at the BL Café, Black Ink will reveal two highly anticipated titles:
Roses and Champagne – Story by ZIG, art by Ttung Gae
Cherry Blossoms After Winter – Story and illustrations by Bamwoo
While the books will not be available for purchase during the soft launch, fans can participate in a special exclusive cup sleeve event on August 22, where cover designs and pricing will be unveiled live. Fans unable to attend can watch the livestream via Black Ink’s Facebook page. Attendees can also enjoy free cookies and coffee while taking photos with standees, postcards, and posters available for giveaways.
Following the soft launch, both titles will be officially released at the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF), with a book signing for Roses and Champagne by the creator, Ttung Gae, scheduled on September 13 at the event.
Black Ink’s foray into Yaoi marks a milestone for local BL fans, providing a uniquely Filipino experience with translated manhwa and a community-centered BL café. Fans are encouraged to mark their calendars and join the celebration of love, art, and storytelling.
