Puregold Channel’s ‘Si Sol at si Luna’ cast reflect on their biggest heartbreaks, as hit series reaches its final episode

It’s been a thrilling ride, to say the least, for viewers of Si Sol at si Luna, Puregold’s viral digital series. Week after week, audiences were riveted by Sol and Luna’s unconventional story, rooting for the couple as they navigated love, relationships, and life’s many complex turns.

As Puregold’s Si Sol at si Luna comes to a close, viewers are hoping for closure not just for Si Sol at si Luna, but for other characters as well.

Sol (Zaijian Jaranilla) experienced the intensity of first love, risking it all for someone he barely knew. Their age disparity hardly mattered. Just in his 20s, Sol found himself drawn to Luna (Jane Oineza), who in her 30s was recovering from the loss of Andy, the love of her life, and the future they once planned together. Once reluctant to believe in love again, Luna found a spark of hope in Sol’s joy and youthful energy.

Ben and Sol finally have a one-on-one, man-to-man conversation in the last episode of Puregold’s Si Sol at si Luna.

Still, reality struck hard in Episode 12, Happy Birthday To Me. Pressured by his young friends, Sol failed to show up at Luna’s birthday dinner, something she prepared just for the two of them. The yawning gap in their lives became painfully apparent, and Luna ended up asking herself the tough question: “What am I doing, waiting for a boy in his 20s on my 32nd birthday?”

Sol struggles to convince Luna to talk to him after missing her birthday.

While fans felt emotionally distressed by the last episode, they can expect more tears, lessons, and reflections on love in the series finale, another mega-episode.

Luna is pained to close her doors to Sol, but she has to make difficult decisions in the final episode of Si Sol at si Luna.

To mark the end of the series, the entire cast of Si Sol at si Luna reflected on their own stories of heartbreak, sharing how love had challenged and changed them through the years.

Will Luna choose to be with Sol in the finale?

For Cheena Crab, who plays the snarky Bridgette, real life heartbreak is something she has been spared from. “Wala akong maise-share na biggest heartbreak, kasi nag-asawa ako, tapos happy lovelife for 16 years,” she said, adding with a laugh that she could not truly relate to the dramatic turns of the story.

Fans wonder if Sol will get another chance with Luna after missing his opportunity.

For Jane Oineza, who gave life to Luna, a character that carried heavy emotional baggage, her biggest heartbreak was losing herself in love. “Nakalimutan ko ang sarili ko, at hindi ko na napa-prioritize ang needs ko,” she admitted. “I tried to do everything for that person—meet his expectations, give in to compromises. I realized na parang nag-iiba na pala ako because of what he was asking from me. My biggest heartbreak, then, was hinayaan kong mangyari iyon.”

Luna visits Andy in the next and final episode of Puregold’s Si Sol at si Luna.

Joao Constancia, the kind-hearted team leader Ben in the series, related that his most painful breakup came after years of being with someone. “She wanted to break up with me after dating for a couple of years,” he recalled. “When I realized that she was really serious about breaking up and stopped seeing me after, that was when the pain cut deepest.”

In hindsight, Joao now understands that the lesson was clear: “I needed to love myself more before loving anyone else.”

Sol debuts his documentary film on love in the final episode of Si Sol at si Luna.

For Karina Bautista, the series’ smart and strong-willed Ara, her biggest heartbreak came from family. “Realizing that we were broken, and then having both my parents move abroad, was really hard for me as a child,” she revealed. “I knew they did it to earn for us, but I still longed for their presence and the feeling of having a complete support system.”

Sol and Luna finally get to talk again in the next episode of the hit Puregold series.

Karina shared that the hardest moment was when she finally understood that everyone is given a different set of cards in life. “I knew I was still blessed, but that didn’t make the pain any lighter,” she said. But she learned not to blame anyone, choosing instead to work hard and pray. “It taught me that love comes in many forms. Choosing to love is harder than just feeling it . . . being able to feel and give love is truly special.”

Much like Luna, Marnie Lapus faced a heartbreaking end to a relationship that struggled against an age gap. “[My biggest heartbreak] would probably be ’yung pakikipaghiwalay ko sa asawa ko,” she said, revealing that she was four years older than her then-partner.

Viewers watched as Sol experienced love and heartbreak for the first time.

Marnie remembered how the imbalance in maturity and priorities took its toll on their marriage. “Parang sa story ng series na ito, ako si Luna, siya si Sol. Hindi niya na-enjoy talaga, technically, ang 20s niya. He had to be a husband and a dad.” But the most painful moment, she recalled, was telling him it was over. “It took me two years, crying every day, trying to save our marriage. Ang pinakamahirap yung sasabihin ko na sa asawa ko na pagod na ako.”

Still, the journey brought Marnie precious lessons. “To be honest, I have no regrets, kasi okay kami ngayon. We worked things out kasi we eventually gained maturity. The breakup taught me to stand my ground and say, ‘This is not the kind of mom I want to be.’ ” Today, she has found peace in knowing that she can also choose to prioritize herself.

Looking back at their experiences, the cast agreed that heartbreaks, though painful, are necessary chapters of life. As Joao put it, “Sometimes heartbreak is meant to happen because it helps us to become better versions of ourselves and that letting go is necessary to moving forward.”

For Marnie, the biggest takeaway is courage: “Being fearless with love—talon sa bangin, bahala na. Life is short. If you have the chance, say it now. It will free you.”

For Jane, pain has always borne lessons. “Kapag nasaktan ka, ang best mo na magagawa ay gamitin ’yon, at gawin siyang learning moment for you. Ang importante matuto ka at hindi mo na hahayaang mangyari iyon sa iyo.”

She leaves an important reminder about love, as the series comes to a close. “Masarap magmahal at masarap ibuhos ang pagmamahal pero dapat ’wag nating kalimutan ang sarili natin. Paano tayo magmamahal ng ibang tao kung na-let go natin ’yung sarili natin? Dapat ’yung person na mamahalin natin, alam niya kung sino tayo—strengths, weaknesses, mistakes, lahat ng bumubuo sa atin. Love is trying to accept each other and grow nang magkasama.”

Don’t miss the finale of Si Sol at si Luna, streaming on Saturday, August 23, at 7 PM, only on Puregold Channel’s official YouTube page.
