‘Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition’ housemate and actress AZ Martinez has openly shared her journey with cosmetic surgery, admitting that insecurity about her looks pushed her to undergo a nose job at just 18 years old.

In an interview with journalist Karen Davila on her YouTube vlog, AZ revealed that she often compared herself to her family growing up.
“’Yung mom ko at ’yung kuya ko ang ganda nung ilong nila. Si kuya kasi nagmana sa mom ko. Hindi ko nakuha ’yung ilong ng mom ko, nakuha ko ’yung ilong ng dad ko,” she said, adding that this made her self-conscious during her teenage years.
For her 18th birthday, she decided to get the procedure done. But looking back, AZ admitted she wished she had taken more time to think about it.
“Right now, like thinking about it, I wished I should have thought about it more. Kasi looking back, tinitingnan ko ’yung photos ko, nasasabi ko, parang it wasn’t that bad naman. Parang nakaya pag-contour-contour lang. Pero happy ako sa nose ko,” she shared.
The actress revealed that this was not her first surgery. “Actually, this is my second time kasi ’yung first ko it got infected. This one I got it done last year again,” she added.
To those considering the same procedure, AZ offered heartfelt advice: “Think about it talaga. Sometimes kasi nagre-regret ako. Sometimes napapaisip ako na sana hindi na lang. Ang gastos din, parang ganun. Pero whatever makes you happy, whatever makes you confident, go for it.”
Still, she reminded others to embrace themselves first before considering enhancements. “Pero learn to also love yourself without those stuff, kasi parang that’s one thing na I should have done. One of my regrets also is hindi ko masyado minahal sarili ko kaya I jumped into impulsive decisions na hindi naman necessary.”
Beyond her physical transformation, AZ has also been open about her personal struggles. She grew up in a broken family, lost her father to liver cirrhosis, and described her journey into showbiz as far from easy. Despite these challenges, she considers her stint in ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ a “blessing in disguise,” as it gave her new opportunities and meaningful friendships, including her close bond with fellow housemate Ralph de Leon.
