Veteran comedian Aiai delas Alas has revealed that she decided to revoke the green card petition she previously filed for her former husband Gerald Sibayan, calling it her way of protecting herself and reclaiming self-respect after their separation.

In an interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’, Aiai candidly admitted that while she initially hesitated to withdraw the application, she later felt it was the only way to stand up for herself.
“Noong una, ayoko talagang gawin ‘yon,” she said. “Pero noong bandang huli, naisip ko parang ayoko namang maging santa. Kahit pangit pakinggan, pero ‘yun na lang ‘yung ganti ko para sa sarili ko na nasaktan ako.”
The Comedy Queen confirmed that the petition had already been revoked, though their divorce proceedings remain ongoing.
Ai Ai explained that the idea of moving to the United States had originally come from Gerald.
“Siya naman ‘yung nagsabi na gusto niyang pumunta ng Amerika. Hindi naman ako ‘yung nagyaya,” she clarified.
Despite the emotional toll of their breakup, Ai Ai said she is now finding peace as she moves forward.
“Sabi ko nga, mayroon akong legacy of peace… pain was my teacher, and healing is my revolution,” she said.
Aiai and Gerald tied the knot in 2017 after several years of being together, but the comedienne confirmed their separation in October 2024, ending their 10-year relationship.
She earlier shared that Gerald had admitted he was no longer happy and wanted to have children, which contributed to their split.
