In the quiet town of Taal, Angela Muji is finding herself in the biggest role of her young career — stepping into the shoes once worn by Korean actress Park Bo-young in the beloved fantasy-romance ‘A Werewolf Boy’.
The ‘Seducing Drake Palma’ star couldn’t believe the news when she first heard she had landed the female lead.

“I was so surprised because I didn’t expect that I would be starring in a movie as a female lead so soon into my career,” she told LionhearTV during filming. “The pressure is definitely on since this movie is so loved by many. It’s a classic.”
Angela plays Sara, a young woman who carries both love and heartbreak — a role that demanded emotional honesty and depth.
“Sara in this movie is full of love, yet her mind is clouded with so much pain,” Angela explained. “She feels like a burden to her family and mourns the loss of her father. Her journey as a Filipina woman is different from Sun-yi in the original. With Sara, I wanted to show how a Filipina might carry that same weight but with a different kind of strength — she tries to stay strong even when she’s breaking inside.”
To prepare, Angela and co-star Rabin Angeles underwent intensive workshops with acting coaches Sir Neil and Ana Feleo — exercises that helped her connect deeply with her character’s inner struggle.
“It wasn’t just about memorizing lines,” she said. “It was about learning how to express grief, compassion, and hope in a way that feels natural to Filipinos.”
For Angela, the hardest part was balancing the story’s mix of innocence and sorrow while grounding it in Filipino warmth.
“That was one of the biggest challenges,” she admitted. “I didn’t want to just copy the original. I wanted to find what that kind of love and innocence would look like here — the kind that’s full of emotion, and so very Filipino.”
When asked why ‘A Werewolf Boy’ deserves a Filipino retelling, Angela was quick to answer.
“It’s such a good story — universal, but still personal,” she said. “Everyone deserves to see it through our own lens, our own emotions, our own kind of love.”
The film reunites Angela with director Crisanto B. Aquino and love team partner Rabin Angeles, following their breakout success in ‘Seducing Drake Palma’. Their chemistry, she said, made the emotional work easier.

“Rabin and I already have that trust,” Angela shared. “That’s important because this story demands vulnerability. You can’t fake that.”
With her grounded performance and emotional insight, Angela Muji proves that she’s not just a rising star — she’s an actress ready to shine on the big screen.
Angela Muji stars as Sara in Viva Films’ ‘A Werewolf Boy’, directed by Crisanto B. Aquino — coming soon to theaters nationwide.
