Kapamilya comedienne-host Melai Cantiveros shared her reaction to the issues surrounding Shuvee Etrata, whose old videos expressing her political views recently resurfaced online and drew heavy criticism.

Shuvee, who rose to popularity after joining ‘Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition, has been at the center of online backlash after past posts about her political stance went viral. She was also criticized for using a meme featuring Vice Ganda to comment on the ABS-CBN shutdown—prompting speculation that this caused her short stint on It’s Showtime.
During the media conference for Season 4 of Melai’s hit Bisaya talk show ‘Kuan on One,’ the host was asked about her reaction to the controversy involving her fellow Bisaya actress.
Melai admitted feeling sad over what Shuvee is going through.
“Nalungkot ako sa inabot niyang ganu’n,” she said.
She added that she is praying for the issue to fade away.
“Keep on praying na malusaw. Malusaw din ang isyu na iyon. Lahat ng mga nangyayari sa buhay natin, there’s a learning,” Melai shared.
Despite the controversy, Melai said she was not disappointed in Shuvee and chose not to judge her. She also clarified that she intentionally did not watch the viral old videos.
“Sino ba naman tayo para mag-judge din? So, let’s pray na lang na malagpasan ni Shuvee [ang kanyang pinagdadaanan],” she said.
Melai mentioned that she has not yet spoken directly with Shuvee but has attempted to send her a private message.
Shuvee’s guesting on ‘Kuan on One’ remains one of the show’s most popular episodes, currently with 1.4 million views.
For Season 4, Melai will sit down with several major celebrity guests, including Kaye Abad, Matteo Guidicelli, Beauty Gonzalez, and Shuvee’s former PBB housemate AZ Martinez.
‘Kuan on One’ continues to trend on the ABS-CBN YouTube channel, with new episodes released every Tuesday.
