Veteran actress Pinky Amador believes that Generation Z voters played a crucial role in reshaping the country’s political landscape, particularly during the 2025 elections, where several celebrity candidates failed to win despite their popularity.

In her guest appearance on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’, Amador was asked about the recent elections and why some well-known personalities did not make it to public office. According to her, the answer lies in the changing mindset of young voters.
“Ako, I attribute it sa Gen Zs. Iisa-isahin nila ‘yan,” she explained.
Amador added that Gen Z voters are not only informed themselves, but are also influencing political decisions within their families.
“I know ang ibang Gen Zs sa bahay nila, ‘Ma, ito ‘yung tatakbo sa atin.’ Sila ‘yung gumagawa ng listahan para sa magulang nila, para sa lola nila,” she said.
She stressed that this kind of involvement is key to national change. “‘Yun ang makakapagpabago ng bansa natin. Sila. Dahil mapanuri sila, dahil magaling sila sa internet, magaling sila mag-search,” Amador added, before emphasizing, “Pero dahil sa kanila, maraming nagbago.”
The actress also shared her thoughts on celebrities and journalists entering politics, saying that fame alone is not enough to become an effective public servant.
According to Amador, aspiring leaders must also be willing to listen and engage directly with ordinary Filipinos.
You have to go on the ground to find out ano ba talaga, paano natin sosolusyunan ito,” she concluded.
