Cristine Reyes has candidly spoken about her past marriage, admitting that her decision to wed at the time was driven by pressure and ultimately became one of her regrets.

During her guest appearance on ‘The Sexytime Podcast’ hosted by Isabelle Daza and Ava Daza, Reyes reflected on the circumstances that led to her 2016 marriage and its eventual breakdown.
Reyes shared that she was drawn to her former partner, a non-showbiz personality, because he represented something different from her life in the entertainment industry.
“Ayoko ng showbiz. So sumama ‘ko dito sa non-showbiz. Parang it was something new. Dadalhin niya ‘ko somewhere na hindi ako dinadala ng iba. So du’n ako medyo nadala,” she said.
She described him as having a “bad boy” appeal, adding: “May pagka-bad boy feels. Naka-motorcycle, tapos fighter. Siyempre na-impress ka.”
However, she admitted that her decision to marry was influenced by societal expectations after she became pregnant.
“‘Yun ‘yung mistake ko… Nagpa-pressure ako sa society na, ay, hindi ako married, tapos pregnant ako so kailangan kasal kami. Tapos inisip ko si Amara. Gusto ko siya bigyan ng family, buo. Wala, mali pala,” Reyes said.
Despite her family’s disapproval, Reyes pushed through with the marriage—a decision she later realized was not right.
She also revealed that she experienced abuse during the relationship but chose to remain silent at the time.
“Sino maniniwala? Sasabihin niya, ‘Si Cristine Reyes ka, eh. Matapang ka’,” she recalled.
On social media, she maintained the image of a happy family, but behind the scenes, the reality was different.
“Pero ‘yung totoo, hindi siya talaga umuuwi sa bahay. Pumupunta siya sa mga casino, tapos may mga girls silang kasama, parang tine-table. Kasi merong mga clients daw, mga Koreans,” she said.
Reyes said the turning point came when her former partner forgot their wedding anniversary.
“Sino’ng matinong tao [ang] makakalimot ng wedding anniversary niyo? ‘Pag sa wedding anniversary namin, wala siyang ginawa…flowers man lang or…dinner…”
This led her to end the relationship.
“So nakipaghiwalay ako sa kanya. Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Tanungin mo sarili mo, for five years na magkasama tayo, did you ever ask me out on a date?’”
She also acknowledged her own role in the situation.
“Fault ko rin naman dahil hinayaan ko ‘yun. But anyway, wala siyang masagot,” she added.
Reyes was previously married to mixed martial artist Ali Khatibi. Their marriage has since been annulled, and they now maintain a co-parenting arrangement for their daughter, Amara.
In August 2025, the actress confirmed that she is in a new relationship with a non-showbiz partner—someone she first met during their grade school years.
