Kapuso actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith shared her perspective on when it is appropriate to speak up and when it is better to remain silent, emphasizing the importance of respect and maturity in handling sensitive issues.
During a recent episode of ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’, Jasmine said that speaking up becomes necessary when innocent people are already being affected.
“[K]apag alam nating naaapektuhan na talaga ‘yong mga taong walang ginagawa na masama, number one, or ‘yong mga taong hindi dapat naman pagsalitaan or pagsabihan ng gano’n dahil para saan pa?” she said.
She added that conversations around issues should be approached with better discipline and understanding.
“If we can improve paano tayo mag-usap about mga problema at issues, better. Kasi may mga paraan lang na kailangan lang nating ibalik sa disiplina, kailangan lang nating i-realign ulit,” she explained.
Host Boy Abunda agreed with her sentiments, highlighting the level of maturity required in such situations.
“Tama. But that takes a lot of maturity and a lot of thinking to be able to do that,” he said.
Boy also underscored the value of respectful discourse despite differences in opinion.
“Okay naman tayo magkaroon ng intellectual collision. You believe in something, I believe in another thing. But we can actually cohabit this world with respect,” he added.
Jasmine’s remarks come after she previously made headlines in March for speaking out against alleged disrespect directed at her sister, Anne Curtis, involving Bong Suntay.
