Aboitiz Economic Estates Highlights the Growing Role of Industrial Ecosystems in Regional Growth

Integrated industrial ecosystems are playing an increasingly important role in shaping long-term economic and social growth, a direction reflected in the recent recognition received by Aboitiz Economic Estates through its 2026 Gold Stevie Award for Excellence in Social Impact Communities, alongside three Bronze Stevie Awards for its sustainability and community-focused initiatives.

LIMA Estate, a 1,100-hectare fully integrated development anchored by more than 200 foreign and domestic manufacturers and supporting the livelihoods of 75,000 Filipinos, reflects the growing role of integrated industrial ecosystems in advancing regional economic growth and long-term employment generation in the Philippines.

Industrial Development Moves Beyond Infrastructure

The award comes as industrial development across Southeast Asia moves beyond land, infrastructure, and location alone. Investors and manufacturers are increasingly evaluating the strength of the ecosystems surrounding industry, including workforce readiness, operational continuity, reliable utilities, sustainability practices, and the capacity of host communities to support long-term growth.

This shift is increasingly visible across integrated industrial townships such as LIMA Estate, the flagship development of Aboitiz Economic Estates. As the industrial and commercial arm of AEV’s integrated real estate platform, Aboitiz Economic Estates continues to advance a solutions-provider model that supports locators beyond land development by enabling business continuity, talent access, operational reliability, and sustainable growth.

Building Ecosystems Around Industry, Talent, and Communities

Home to global locators such as EPSON, Yamaha, Tsuneishi, Coca-Cola, and Ajinomoto, Aboitiz Economic Estates supports industries that contribute to regional manufacturing activity, employment generation, and broader economic development across the country.

Across its portfolio, the Group has helped generate more than 100,000 jobs and continues to strengthen industrial growth corridors across Southern Luzon, Central Visayas, and Central Luzon.

The 10-hectare Batangas State University – LIMA Campus, located within LIMA Estate’s Industrial Hub, will serve as the Philippines’ first learning hub for industry-based learning, strengthening embedded workforce sustainability by directly linking engineering education with the evolving needs of industrial operations and supporting long-term talent development within the ecosystem.

Strengthening Workforce Readiness Through Talent Edge

A key part of this model is workforce development. Through Talent Edge, Aboitiz Economic Estates works with academic institutions, training partners, and locators to help align education and skills development with the evolving needs of industry.

The program supports a more resilient labor pipeline for companies operating within its estates, while helping host communities access opportunities linked to industrial growth.

Integrating Sustainability Into Estate Operations

Sustainability is also integrated into the day-to-day management of its developments. Across its estates, Aboitiz Economic Estates continues to embed resource stewardship into estate operations through initiatives that support water conservation, waste diversion, circular resource use, and more responsible industrial growth.

The Sustainability Hub @ LIMA Estate serves as a centralised facility for environmental innovation—championing responsible waste management, water recycling, and circular economy solutions.

Recognition for Long-Term Socioeconomic Impact

This year’s Gold Stevie recognition affirms the broader socioeconomic impact of this integrated approach, particularly within LIMA Estate, where industrial growth, workforce development, sustainability, and community development are closely interconnected.

Complementing this recognition, Aboitiz Economic Estates also received Bronze Stevie distinctions for several initiatives: Talent Edge for Innovative Achievement in Corporate Social Responsibility, the Sustainability Hub for Innovative Achievement in Sustainability and Circular Economy, and The Estate Greenprint for Innovation in Purpose-Driven Marketing.

Since 2024, Aboitiz Economic Estates has received eight Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards, including three Gold distinctions, recognizing initiatives across socioeconomic impact, workforce development, sustainability, and integrated estate development.

“Industrial development today is increasingly defined by the strength of the ecosystems surrounding it,” said Rafael Fernandez de Mesa, President and CEO of Aboitiz Economic Estates and Aboitiz Land. “Infrastructure remains essential, but long-term competitiveness also depends on workforce readiness, operational continuity, responsible resource stewardship, and the ability of communities and industries to grow together over time. Our focus has always been on building environments that enable sustained and inclusive growth.”

A Broader Role for Industrial Estates

As manufacturing investment across ASEAN continues to evolve, the role of industrial estates is expanding. Their long-term value increasingly rests not only in physical infrastructure, but in their ability to create connected environments where industry, talent, operations, and communities can grow together with greater resilience.
