foodpanda is digitizing the “cash-on-delivery” experience as it adds QR-on-Delivery to its suite of payment options. This new feature allows customers to seamlessly pay for their orders upon the arrival of their ka-Panda riders using any QRPH-supported bank or e-wallet, providing a secure digital alternative to physical cash.
This initiative reflects a broader shift in the Philippines’ payment landscape, where QRPH adoption is expanding beyond physical storefronts and into everyday service interactions. By integrating QRPH into doorstep transactions, foodpanda supports efforts to make digital payments more accessible, practical, and embedded in daily routines.
Extending digital payments to everyday transactions
QR-on-Delivery enables customers to select a digital payment option at checkout while still paying upon arrival. Upon delivery, riders will show the QR code to the users and the users can scan the QR code using any of their chosen QRPH-compliant banking apps or e-wallets such as GCash and Maya 
This reflects a key behavior in the Philippines: while digital wallets are widely used, many still prefer to complete transactions only when their order is received—making QR-on-Delivery a natural extension of existing habits.
It also improves operational efficiency by reducing the need for riders to handle cash or prepare change, helping streamline each delivery.
Strengthening the digital payments ecosystem
The rollout aligns with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) vision of a cash-lite economy, where at least 50% of retail payments are conducted digitally. QRPH, the country’s national QR standard, supports this shift by enabling transactions across banks and e-wallet providers.
Through QR-on-Delivery, foodpanda extends QRPH usage into delivery transactions, increasing everyday use cases.

As platforms continue to shape payment behavior, integrating digital options into familiar experiences remains key to long-term adoption with food delivery serving as a high-frequency use case.
