Collegiate volleyball makes its grand return on ABS-CBN S+A this 2018 with the start of the Women’s Volleyball Tournament of the 93rd Season of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) tomorrow (January 4) at the FilOil Flying V Arena.
The opening ceremony will be beamed LIVE at 11:30 am on S+A and S+A HD before curtains open with last season’s finalists San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R) Lady Stags going up against the Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Lady Generals at 12 nn. Afterwards, defending champions Arellano University (AU) Lady Chiefs begin their title-retention bid against the Mapua University (MU) Lady Cardinals at 2 pm.
The Lady Stags will now play without three-time MVP Grethcel Soltones and Kat Villegas who have graduated, and will rely on the leadership of Joyce Sta. Rita, Alyssa Eroa, Nikka Dalisay in facing the Lady Generlas led by Iona Yongco, Kristine Santos, and Yvette Tongco.
AU, meanwhile, will still be bannered by last season’s Second Best Outside Spiker Jovielyn Prado, Regine Arocha, and Andrea Marzan as they face Mapua’s triumvirate of Danielle Ramilo, Shaira Hermano, and Katrina Racelis.
Other players to watch for from the other teams include Letran’s Glayssa Faith Torres, Mikaela Lopez, and Jaymeleene Parin; JRU’s Shola Alvarez, Dolly Versoza, and Season 92 Best Opposite Spiker Karen Montojo; LPU’s Cherilyn Sindayen, Christine Miralles, and Bien Juanillo; Perpetual’s Lourdes Clemente, Necelle Gual, and Marijo Medalla; San Beda’s Cesca Racraquin, Satrianni Espiritu, and Jiezela Viray; and CSB’s Ranya Musa, Rachel Austero, and Maritess Pablo.
Apart from the live broadcast of the opening matches, ABS-CBN S+A will also feature daily highlights of the games on “The Score,” while the semifinals and finals will also be aired live.
