  • Vice Ganda took it to Twitter to rant about an existing fan mentality.
  • He also went on to a Facebook Live to share his reactions and opinions online.
  • Some celebrities also replied to Vice’s rants.

Vice Ganda called out fans who think they own their idols just because they pay to see them. In a Twitter rant on January 20, Saturday, the host-comedian also opened up about celebrities drowning in depression because of said mentality.

After the Twitter rant, he went on a Facebook Live.

Vice surprised his 10 million followers when he suddenly ranted about the existing negative fan mentality. He also added that people who supposedly “supports” celebrities think they know everything. Then, he also shared that some “fans” think they own their idols. He confronted the said mentality through his Twitter rant:

One of his tweets also read:

“Some fans really think they know everything. And some even think they own you!”

He continued to cite the differences between being a supportive fan or a fantard. A fantard refers to the slang word for a “stupid fan.”

“Be smart. You should know when you’re being a supportive fan or a stupid fantard!”

Moreover, Vice opened up that many celebrities started drowning in depression. The said celebrities also started to feel the pressure of the work they do just to impress their “fans.”

Depression also refers to a common and serious mental illness which negatively affects how one person feels, thinks and acts. It may be treatable but it causes feelings of sadness and a loss of interest in activities the person used to enjoy.

“Andami ng tao ang nilalamon ng DEPRESSION dahil sa sobrang PRESSURE na dulot ng trabaho at ng mga taong inaakala nilang sumusuporta s knila.”

Lea Salonga replied on one of Vice’s tweets and said, “First, deep breath. Second, the relationship between artist and fan is symbiotic. One cannot live without the other but, as in every relationship, there are boundaries that must be erected and respected. Third, I hope you’re well!”

Luis Manzano also quote-tweeted Vice’s post and added, “Because for them if it’s online, it’s automatic truth :)”
