After bagging the role of Elsa on the musical play adaptation of the iconic film “Himala,” Kapuso singer-actress is set to play another iconic role.
The 33-year old actress-singer is chosen to be the newest Gigi on “Miss Saigon” UK Tour.
Aicelle will take on the role of her fellow Filipina singer-actress Rachelle Ann Go, who played the role in the London West End revival of the musical.
Another Pinay who became Gigi was Isay Alvarez who held the role in the original West End production, opposite Lea Salonga as Kim.
According to CNN report, she will be leaving for Manchester by the third week of March to begin training for the role.
As Aicelle wins the role for “Miss Saigon,” some of her fans asked if she will be still included in the next re-staging of PETA hit musical “Rak of Aegis.” As of now, there is no official confirmation if she will still play the lead role of the said local musical play.
The musical is set in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh) in the 1970’s, during the Vietnam War. It follows the story of star-crossed lovers Kim, a teenage bar girl, and Chris, an American GI, who are separated by war.
