Angel Locsin is making a comeback via The General’s Daughter. She underwent intense training and did her stunts with extra caution, though, due to her spine injury in 2015.
Her intensive training for Darna triggered the development of a disc bulge in her spine.
Angel is back in action.
The General’s Daughter will be Angel’s fifth full-length television series since she joined ABS-CBN in 2008. This led others to tag her as the Primetime Action Queen. Locsin also starred in Mulawin, Darna, Majika, Lobo, Imortal, a cameo appearance on Mulawin vs. Ravena and La Luna Sangre.
Locsin pointed out that she felt like she has to prove to people that she can still do action scenes.
“I want people to see that I can still do it… I often get messages from people with the same condition, those with spine problems. I’m hoping that when they see me doing what I’m doing, this will give them hope. They will say that it’s not yet the end for them. That life won’t be as boring as they expect it to be without physical activities.”
Angel did her stunts in her action scenes with extra caution.
Locsin noted that she always has to meet with her physical therapist before doing an important stunt.

“Here, you will see me punch and kick people. I am now extra careful. I meet with my physical therapist the night before I am scheduled to do an important scene. I also use cold or warm compress… I feel a different kind of fulfillment whenever I get to do my routines. It gives me a different kind of happiness.”
Angel immerses herself in military camp life.
Locsin explained how she prepared for her role.
“I studied military drills. I also spent a couple of days in the hospital. The head nurse of the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) had been very gracious to us.”
