The moment a person indulges into a platform that enables them to share their own ideas and opinions such as the popular YouTube vlogging, it is also the acceptance of criticism that one could get from sharing.
One of the popular YouTube vloggers in the Philippines with over 3, 500, 000 followers and counting, Alex Gonzaga, has her fair share of bashers with their harsh and negative comments.
Bashing was not new for Youtuber Alex Gonzaga that she receives from the online bashers. But she has a way in dealing with such negative comments that she receives almost every day.
In the interview in Bianca Gonzales’ YouTube Vlog “How to prove haters wrong, Paano Ba ‘To with Alex Gonzaga,” the actress explained why she always re-reads the negative comments that she receives online.
“Minsan ‘pag sobrang dami nang pumupuri sa ‘yo, parang maghahanap ka ng isang masakit [na comment] kasi ‘pag sobra kang nasanay na puro ka papuri, isa lang magsabi sa ’yo ng masakit—bothered na bothered ka na, na-balewala na yung 10 messages na maganda sa ‘yo.”
The actress also revealed that while she deletes some negative comments that really affected her before, with the method that she’s using now on how to deal with this negativity, she doesn’t delete any comments anymore.
“So ngayon sabi ko, alam ko na yung gagawin ko, babasahin kita nang babasahin hanggang yung words mo maging words na lang na wala na siyang meaning sa akin.”
At the end of the vlog, Alex Gonzaga gave a message to the people who are having a hard time on dealing with negative comments, may it be on social media or in real life.
“Kaya dapat ‘wag kang maging afraid na makarinig ng criticisms at struggles mo in life, kasi sa buhay mo hindi matatapos yun. Sa buhay, forever may struggle, it’s just how you go through it.”
Also, last August 4, 2018, Alex Gonzaga even had a vlog, “Harsh Comments by Alex Gonzaga” with her sister Toni Gonzaga, on reading mean comments. The video, as of now, has garnered 5 472 480 views. In the video, it really shows how kwela and how she professionally and lightly took the comments.
Alex Gonzaga is one of the YouTube Gold Awardees, where she got more than 1 million YouTube subscribers from the video-sharing website.
