While the search for the next ‘Darna’ is still going on, Erik Matti, who was originally supposed to be the director of the project, thinks Nadine Lustre could fit the bill. Lorna Tolentino, who also once played ‘Darna,’ agreed. As for Nadine’s real-life boyfriend James Reid, he also believes that Nadine deserves to portray the iconic role.
In a recent interview with YouTube channel Rider.ph, James expressed his support for his beloved girlfriend should she be selected as the next ‘Darna.’
“I would love to see her as Darna. She’s very powerful and she’s a strong woman. I think she would fit the role very well,” James said while hugging the couple’s pet corgi, Cal.
However, Nadine seemed to have only a vague interest in the role.
In an interview at the MYX Music Awards Night where she took home four awards, Nadine was asked whether or not she had plans of auditioning for the said role to which she replied in the negative.
Afterwards, she revealed that the viral video of her shouting ‘Darna’ was only made to grant the request of her friend Donnalyn Bartolome.
The actress said that if she was asked to audition for the said role, she would gladly do it.
Lustre and Reid are currently working on separate projects. Lustre is set to star in the dance movie ‘Indak’ with Sam Concepcion while James is focusing on his music with his label ‘Careless Music Manila’.
