Jerald Napoles responds to cancellation of ‘Sunday PinaSaya’

“Nanghihinayang. Kasi wala naman problema sa ratings.”

This was actor-comedian Jerald Napoles’s reaction to the cancellation of GMA Network’s Sunday comedy-variety show Sunday PinaSaya.

Jerald is one of the mainstays in the said show.

“Nakakahinayang lang kasi kahit papaano, totoo naman na naging number 1 noontime Sunday show kami,” he told the media on the sidelines of his recent contract signing with Viva Artists Agency.

“So nung na-claim namin yon for how many years. Siyempre may kumpiyansa ka sa sarili mo na tatagal ito. Kaya natin ‘to. Tapos ngayon mawawala… na-set ka na eh,” he added.

Jerald said the network did not tell them the reasons for canceling the TV show.

“Di nila sinabi. Wala na sinabi at all. Di na rin namin naitanong kasi nung sinabi sa amin, umiyak na si Lovely (Abella),” he revealed.

“More on tahimik kaming lahat eh. Speechless. Si Ate Ai-Ai (Delas Alas) malungkot,” he added.

After four years of dominating Sunday noontime, the APT Entertainment recently announced that Sunday PinaSaya will have its last episode on December 22, despite high ratings and a considerable amount of advertising load.

The decision to cancel was reportedly made after GMA Network decided not to renew its blocktime deal with APT Entertainment.

The network will let GMA Entertainment Group take over the time slot with an entirely new show.

Tentatively titled All Out Sunday (AOS), the new Sunday noontime show will be a mix of musical-variety and comedy.

When asked if he would accept an offer to be part of AOS, Jerald said: “Oo. Why not? Ayoko mag-limit. GMA yon eh. Doon ako nagsimula.”

“Go ako kung gusto nila. Trabaho naman hanap natin eh,” he added.

The pilot telecast of AOS has been temporarily set on January 5, 2020.

A former talent of Triple Talent Management, Jerald transferred to the talent management arm of Viva Entertainment, Viva Artists Agency last November 25.
