Andre Yllana, the son of Jomari Yllana with actress Aiko Melendez, surprised everyone when he chose to side with his dad’s former live-in partner Joy Reyes.
In Joy’s recent Facebook post criticizing the actor’s lack of child support, Andre also voiced out his sentiments towards his father, echoing Joy’s words.
“Responsibility b4 Kati #noallowance #notranspo #nodriver #facts #secretary,” Joy wrote.
In the comment section of the post, Andre replied, “21 years na rin ako umaasa, tita.”
Amid the controversy, Andre’s mother, Aiko, then shared a piece of advice to her 21-year-old son.
Coming from a broken family herself, the Kapuso actress said she wanted her son to be understanding towards his father despite the controversies.
“Because I grew up in a broken family also, na ‘yung mom ko has never said anything bad against my dad. So siguro naging idol ko ‘yung mom ko kasi no matter how bad my past was, I never hated my father because of my mom,” Aiko said in an exclusive interview with GMA Network.
“So I’d like to instill that also to my kids na kung may lapses man ‘yung mga tatay n’yo, ‘wag niyo i-hate but to understand more.”
Aiko has remained friends with Martin Jickain, the father of her daughter Marthena. The actress said that she stayed civil with Jomari for the sake of their son.
Aiko explained,” “Gusto ko nafi-feel nila talaga na kahit hiwalay kami.. If we can’t be friends, at least be civil for the kids ‘ di ba? With Martin kasi and Maggie, the wife of Martin, wala akong problema.
“With Jom kasi, I’m not in speaking terms with him so now I always tell Andre, you know lalo na now his dad is into a controversy so I tell him, ‘Hey, at the end of the day, whatever you read, whatever you hear, you believe your dad.’”
