Kapuso artist Golden Cañedo likened her new single “Walang Hanggang Sandali” to her non-showbiz boyfriend Martin Raval.
Cañedo is the first grand winner of The Clash, GMA Network’s reality talent competition show. She is set to release her new single under GMA Music on August 25.
The 18-year-old singer mentioned that her new single which talks about serendipitous love highly relates to her relationship with her boyfriend whom she mentioned she met by chance.
The artist revealed that she and Raval met in New York, USA back when she took a trip to the city for an international concert for Studio 7.
Just like the message of her new single, Cañedo said that she also had a chance encounter with Raval. She didn’t realize that through her concert, she would meet Raval who would later become her boyfriend.
“’Yun din po ‘yung nangyari sa amin. It’s like chance encounter din po ang nangyari. Nagkita po kami doon and doon na po nag-start na nag-DM (direct message) po siya sa Instagram,” Cañedo shared.
She mentioned that ever since they met in New York, Raval has been sending her DMs (direct messages) that led to some romantic developments.
She explained that her yet to be released single will explain what a relationship really is: something that is full of ups and downs.
“Ang relasyon may kaba, takot, kilig, may ganun po na lyrics… parang hindi lang po all the time masaya ‘yung relationship. So doon din po makakakuha, makakapulot kayo ng aral na nasa lyrics din po na teka, wait lang. Parang, ‘ano ba ‘to, nangyayari ba talaga ‘to?’ ‘I will take a risk ba talaga sa love… or magte-take time muna ako to think?’” she said.
Cañedo also discovered that Raval already left her DMs way back in 2017 but she never took notice of it. She did not know why she chose not to reply back then but nevertheless, she believed that God made them meet each other for a reason.
“Hindi ko din alam na bakit na-replyan ko siya sa dinami-rami ng nagcha-chat po sa akin. ‘Yun po. Siguro it’s God talaga na may plan po talaga si God at may reason po talaga si God kung bakit napunta po siya sa life ko,” she said.
Cañedo just recently revealed her non-showbiz boyfriend to her fans and followers on August 14 when she posted about their first anniversary on her Instagram account.

She revealed that even though she was in a long-distance relationship with the guy, their relationship remains strong.
She also revealed that her parents approve of her relationship with Raval despite their young age. In an interview with the press for her new single “Walang Hanggang Sandali,” she explained how she got her parent’s trust.
“At first hindi po ako ’yung nakakilala sa kanya. Ang una po talagang nakakilala sa kanya, ’yung mom ko, so mas una niya pong niligawan ’yung family ko kumpara sa ’kin,” Cañeda shared.
She mentioned that Raval first approached her family especially her mother so that they will be able to know him first and be accustomed to him.
She added that Raval then began to message her and they were able to get to know each other. In hopes of proving how serious he is in pursing Cañeda, Raval even flew to the Philippines to win the hearts of the artist and her family.
“After na nakilala niya ng husto ’yung mom ko, dito na po siya nag-chat sa ’kin, dito na po kami nagkausap, then ’yun po, tinest po namin kung gaano po siya ka-seryoso,” Cañeda explaineds.
Cañedo also said that their families play a great part as to why their relationship remains strong because their families continue to guide and support them all throughout.
“Sobrang guided po kami ng parents namin. Sobrang supportive po nila sa akin kasi alam natin ang LDR super hirap sa edad po namin ngayon, so siguro po ng dahil sa family ko rin and family niya kung bakit kami hanggang ngayon nagka-first anniversary ng dahil din po sa pamilya ko kasi hindi rin po kami pinabayaan,” she said.
“Sobrang happy ko po ngayon kasi binigyan pa ako ni God ng way pa para mas sumaya,” she added.
Golden Cañedo is a part of GMA’s Studio 7, which is a late-night musical variety show. She is also a performer on All-Out Sundays. She was able to receive the National Customer’s Choice Annual Awards (NCCAA) back in 2019.
