After yesterday’s surprise filing of an NBI case by Liza Soberano, actress Julia Barretto also took a stand and filed a case against former broadcaster Jay Sonza.
In particular, the actress filed a cybercrime case at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) against the said broadcaster over reports of her alleged pregnancy that came out on the Facebook page of Sonza.
The actress decided to pursue the case even though Sonza immediately retracted his allegations because his actions caused distress to her and her family, “I am pursuing this case because the statements made by Mr. Sonza are untrue and irresponsible. The widespread reposting of the news based on his post caused distress to me and my family.”

She also clarified that she will never take this accusation lightly and Sonza should be held accountable for his reckless actions, “I don’t want to take this matter lightly. Mr. Sonza, and all those who publish these reckless and baseless posts, must be held accountable for their actions so that they think twice before claiming things as fact.”
Accompanied her daughter, Marjorie Barretto also made asked that NBI Cybercrime Division investigate the “untrue and irresponsible statements made by Sonza on his social media account.”
Known fake news king Jay Sonza first reported that Julia was pregnant with Gerald Anderson’s child.
In his Facebook account, the former ABS-CBN newscaster congratulated his neighbor in Congressional Village in Quezon City.
“Congratulations sa aking kapitbahay sa Congressional Village, Bahay Toro, Quezon City, napatunayan nina Visoy (visayan tisoy) Gerald Anderson at anak nina Dennis Padilla at Marjorie na si Julia Barreto na kapuwa hindi sila baog,” he added.
“After months of love lockdown and ESQ (exact sex quadrant) – may nabuo sa sinapupunan ni Julia.”
Julia herself immediately debunked the pregnancy rumor. On her Instagram account, Julia proudly posted a photo showing her flat tummy.

After Julia and Gerald slammed the fake news along with criticisms from netizens and the public, Sonza deleted the post on his Facebook account and publicly apologized.
