Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. and Usec Lorraine Badoy‘s relentless red-tagging of community pantries may instead do more good than harm.

On Wednesday, April 21, Parlade during an interview with One News PH compared Patricia Non, the lead organizer of Maginhawa Community Pantry, to Satan.

Meanwhile, Badoy questioned Non for asking for donations to community pantries. She then criticized the real intention of Non for setting the currency to US dollars.

Bedtime chika

However, their intent to instigate harm to Non only resulted in donations pouring in.

After Badoy posted her criticism of Non’s call for donations, Anne Curtis‘s husband, Erwan Heusaff donated $2,000.

As a result, several Netizens and personalities slapped Badoy with a ‘reverse card’ after her post backfired.

Imagine the backfire.

Lorraine Badoy-Partosa, unfortunately is back in FB, posted the paypal link that Patreng used to solicit donations for the #communitypantry in an attempt to red-tag the fund raising efforts.

Guess what, after posting it, Erwan Heussaf donated $2,000!

With Heusaff donating a large amount of money, twitter personality Alfonso Manalastas joked about how the celebrity is checking Badoy’s facebook page.

Twitter personality Ricci shared the post of a relative of Non named Zena Bernardo.

According to Bernardo, the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) “promoted” the Maginhawa Community Pantry, which resulted in more donations.

Oh ayan, salamat daw NTF-ELCAC. Kasi dahil sa kagaguhan nyo, mas madami pang mga tao ang magkakaroon ng makakain. pic.twitter.com/DoqHCY4kvj

Journalist Alma Anonas-Carpio also thanked Badoy for her allegations toward Non’s fundraising initiative.

Carpio even suggested that the public should keep on donating so that the secretary will be enraged.

Yes, there is something to thank that skank for, after all.

Please keep donating, if only to give her a conniption fit. You will feed the hungry, too. win-win. https://t.co/TqoSgHEPMZ

Former PTV-4 host Jules Guiang sarcastically lauded Badoy for promoting the fund sourcing of Non.

Since after Badoy and Parlade criticized and red-tagged Non, donations have reached almost $15,000 in just one day.

Thanks to USec. Lorraine Badoy’s post, this PayPal fundsourcing is about to reach about $15,000+! Keep on donating and let kindness prevail over our land! #CommunityPantryPH #MaginhawaCommunityPantry pic.twitter.com/x0zHIyMcke

— Jules Guiang (@julesguiang) April 22, 2021

With Badoy’s plan backfiring, former Bayan Muna representative Teddy Casiño suggested that the secretary–may also red-tag their community pantry over in Makati.

Usec. Badoy paki red tag yung #CommunityPantry namin sa Makati para dumami rin ang donors. https://t.co/1qG3OZCXEp

— Teddy Casiño (@teddycasino) April 22, 2021

Due to the red-tagging, which eventually backfired, a Netizen encouraged Government officials to continue their baseless allegations.

Such moves followed after Government authorities’ failed criticism against Vice President Leni Robredo. They are now targetting community pantries.

Reporter Shai Lagarde compared Badoy’s post to a tweet being ratioed.

On twitter, ratioed happens when a reply to a tweet gets more likes than the tweet it was replying to. And with the secretary’s post resulting in more support than hate, Lagarde considered it as a real-life “ratioed.”

Another twitter personality took the liberty to criticize the question raised by Badoy.

According to the Netizen–the fundraising for the community pantry should not be questioned, rather the intelligence fund allotted for the NTF-ELCAC.

So what kung may fund-raising ang Community Pantry?

Former Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda took a swipe at Parlade for accusing Non as a leftist without any proof.

Lacierda then encouraged the public to ignore the spokesperson as he was a “distraction” and focus on what matters—community pantries.

Maraming langaw.

Let’s focus on what matters & that is how community pantries have addressed the gap in helping those in want.

Parlade is a distraction. At most, he wants the attention. At worst, he is a busy bee with no pollen to pollinate.

He is not essential.

— Edwin Lacierda (@dawende) April 22, 2021

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) even showed their support for the Maginhawa Community Pantry as they donated 20 sacks of vegetables.

I would like to think that this is sort of a protest against their higher ups. Kudos to this team for helping. https://t.co/ExeeaDjnzH

On the other hand, the NTF-ELCAC is on the brink of getting defunded. This followed after several senators were displeased by the red-tagging of community pantry organizers by the national anti-communist task force.

Sen. Richard Gordon, during an interview with CNN Philippines even described the profiling and red-tagging activities of the NTF-ELCAC as “imbecilic, stupid, and shameful.”

“They have no right to do that. People are doing their business in peace. They are not violating the law. Why should they bother with this? Dapat magfocus sila sa iba,” said Gordon.

“Bakit sila nagfo-focus dito sa mga taong tumutulong sa kapwa at nagpapakita ng bayanihan sa ating bayan? I think it’s imbecilic, it’s stupid and shameful.”

Via tweet, Senator Joel Villanueva even suggested that the government should stop allocating public funds to the task force. He suggested that the 19 billion budget of the task force should be designated for financial aid or “ayuda”.

During an interview with CNN Philippines’ said, News Night, Senator Nancy Binay even recommended that the Government should review the budget of NTF-ELCAC and divert its fund to the pandemic response.

“Budget season is coming, I will really make sure that we’ll be addressing the budget for the NTF-ELCAC. Maybe, it’s high time that we really review their budget.

“For me, we should all concentrate on how we will survive this pandemic. The priority should not be about red-tagging or the communist problem. We should prioritize our response with this pandemic.”
