Kapuso star Richard Yap still has no plans to run for a government office but is open to follow the footsteps of Vilma Santos and Richard Gomez.

“Siguro that remains to be seen kung anong mangyayari satin. Pero what I really want is to be able to help.

“So that’s what I’m trying to do to be able to help not only in Cebu, kahit na siguro sa Manila. So if whether to go into it or not, hindi pa natin pinaplano as of now,” the actor revealed during a virtual press conference, Wednesday (June 16).

In the meantime, Yap also addressed the misconception that celebrities are not fit for politics.

“I think the people should not judge. Kasi it doesn’t mean na just because you are a celebrity you have nothing to offer as a politician.

“Because nakikita naman natin na maraming nag-join ng politics. And they have done so well, that they’ve done even better than the politicians themselves,” stressed Yap.

The actor also expressed his admiration to celebrities-turned-politicians such as Vilma Santos and Richard Gomez. Yap lauded them for proving that artists have more to offer than just their looks.

“One person I could say would be our Vilma Santos, or si Richard Gomez. Iba yung… not only politicians have a better grasp of what’s happening around them. Meron din ang mga celebrities na hindi ma-offer ng isang politician,” added the actor.

Currently, Yap is set to do a TV series with Kapuso star Heart Evangelista. Called, I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, it will be the first pairing of Sir Chief and the Kapuso Queen of Creative Collaborations. Their locked-in taping is set to start next month.
