Maine Mendoza was absent from Kalyeserye on February 17, but she was very productive, as indicated on her blog, “The Pessimistic Optimistic Bella“.
The Dubsmash Queen of the Philippines posted a video titled “Driving alone be like…” on her blog and on YouTube, to the delight of her fans.
In her blog, Maine said that she has been craving for long drives and had the chance to do so on Valentine’s Day. She did not say, however, where she went on that day.
Her long drive also gave her the chance to create a new video, which is something that she missed. She said, “I really do hope I could make and edit more videos soon! But here’s what I got for you this time, how is it like to drive alone.”
Maine did not use the Dubsmash application but the video showed her lip syncing and sometimes singing along with the songs animatedly.
On the video, Maine did what she became famous for. She showed those signature wacky faces and unbelievable facial expressions that few people can make.
But some netizens raised some concerns about the video because it looks like she was not wearing her seatbelt while she was driving and singing or lip syncing at the same time. Some were worried about her safety because she is loved by so many people. Others reminded her to wear her seatbelt and keep her hands on the steering wheel. They said a lot of people idolize her, especially the youth, who just might imitate her.
Maine knows that a lot of people might notice that detail, that’s why she placed a Disclaimer on her blog and on YouTube, about the video. She wrote, “I am wearing my seatbelt (sa lower part nga lang) so I could move freely; but I did wear it the right way after shooting the videos so no worries!”
Like her other videos, the “Driving alone be like…” video has gone viral online with more than 353000 views as of this writing.
