Edgar Allan Guzman has truly come far and made a name for himself ever since he won as Eat Bulaga’s Mr. Pogi 2006. Just like Jericho Rosales, Edgar Allan Guzman or more commonly know as E.A. Guzman later explored other opportunities outside GMA Network and “Eat Bulaga” which initially gave him a break into Philippine showbiz.

In the March 4th, 2016 Push interview, Edgar Allan shared his excitement on working on ‘Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako,’ a film based on the Himig Handog: P-Pop Love Songs 2014 entry of the same title which also was performed and a hit song by Michael Pangilinan.

‘Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako’ will once again be directed with the the official music video director Joven Tan which focuses on Edgar Allan Guzman and Michael Pangilinan’s character about a discreet gay or ‘closet queen’ who fell in love with his straight male best friend.

EA startsed off by sharing his enthusiasm on being the film’s lead.

(“Of, course I am proud of myself. I thanked the Lord because he gave me this. It feels good now because I was simply someone who tags along; just someone on the background. This time it is focus on us. I have so many scenes, and this made me proud and happy about myself.“)
Edgar went on sharing a more personal take and appreciation towards the gay community by admitting that he has a gay brother.
Walang ganu’n. Na-appreciate ko na agad ang mga bading.”
(“My appreciation for the members of the gay community did not begin on this film. From the very start, my brother was gay. We know and accept for who he is. I never got angry at him. I never think low of him even after knowing he was gay. This made me love him even more as now I understand him more. I never had the feeling and thinking that ‘I should not get close to him. I will get associate myself more with my straight brother;’ there was nothing like that. I appreciated and accepted him immediately.“)
Push asked Edgar for some message for discreet or closet gays and here is what he has to say.
“Actually, hirap sila talaga…
(“Actually, it is really hard  for them. I understood it on the role I played. What I can only say to them is, ‘Go, come out!’ because you are already free. There is really no need to hide it.”)
(“If it was up to me, just go, get out, come out, get yourself out there, say it. You will be much happier if you will get that out and stop hiding it.“)
Edgar also shared about love not knowing any gender or sexual preference.
“And sa pagmamahal naman, go din. Ang pagmamahal wala yang pinipiling kasarian. And ngayon, usung-uso na yung ganyan, marami na, so go! Come out and be proud of yourself.”
(“And for those who are in love, just go. Love knows no gender. That is now acceptable, many are doing iy so just go! Come out and be proud of yourself.“)
