The Kapamilya comedian-host refuted claims by trolls and critics who insinuate that some artists endorsed certain politicians who can help ABS-CBN get its franchise back.

“Wala na po kaming hinahabol na prangkisa (ABS-CBN no longer tries to get its franchise back)” explained Vice Ganda during the April 27 episode of the noon-time show, It’s Showtime.

On the show’s segment, Tawag ng Tanghalan, the phenomenal box office star asked a daily contender about what he would want to say to the future President of the Philippines, to which the contender replied with “Sana po bumalik na po ‘yung trabaho ng marami (I’d ask him to restore the jobs of many people)”.

He then mentioned that ABS-CBN lost its franchise, viewers like him also lost an important source of entertainment.

That answer allowed Vice Ganda to open the conversation that involves artists who endorse politicians.

Vice Ganda noted that trolls on social media have accused celebrities of supporting certain politicians who can help ABS-CBN get its franchise back.

“Pero linawin lang natin ha…kasi ‘di ba maraming nagsasabi na, itong mga artista na ‘to may mga ginagawa sila dahil ang tanging pakay nila ay para maibalik ang prangkisa. Para lang po sa kaalaman ng mga nakararami, wala na po kaming inaasahang prangkisa, dahil ‘yong dati naming prangkisa, meron na pong nagmamay-ari ‘non (Let’s be clear here… because a lot have been accusing artists of doing things solely to help ABS-CBN get its franchise back. Just to enlighten everybody…we are no longer after a franchise, because the one we used to have is already given to another company),” he clarified.

Vice Ganda also explained that ABS-CBN did not apply for a new franchise.

“So malinaw ‘yan ha, sa mga shunga shungahan na trolls… ABS-CBNis no longer after any franchise ( I hope that’s already settled…to every social media troll, ABS-CBN is no longer after any franchise”.

Vice Ganda also shared that ABS-CBN has already shifted to becoming a powerhouse content provider, and is currently thriving at being so.

“Ngayon ang ABS-CBN ay nagpoproduce at lumilikha ng maraming content na maaring ipalabas sa maraming plataporma. Mas maraming content, mas maraming trabaho (These days, ABS-CBN is now focused on producing content that can be accessed through different platforms. The more content we produce, the more jobs we create)”

“Sa international gumagawa ‘din tayo ng content para sa kanila (We also make content for international audiences)” Vhong Navarro added, to which Vice Ganda seconded with“Ganon ‘yon, sa Viu, Netflix, Youtube!”

Vice Ganda, along with other celebrities supporting the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo as President, has been the subject of bashing by Internet trolls, who accuse them of endorsing their presidential bets only to help ABS-CBN get a new franchise.
