FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s comeback to the Top 3 has been cut short by the new Kapuso series, False Positive, which has held the Kapamilya show’s top 3 spots since last week.
It did not surprise much that FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano was able to bounce back into the Top 3 most-watched programs in the country after GMA Network’s Widow’s Web ended its successful 43-episode run on April 29. The six-year-old action-drama series promptly reclaimed its spot in the top 3 on May 2, Monday, with a 10.1 people rating, as reported by AGB Nielsen. That was enough to ward off the newcomer, False Positive, which replaced Widow’s Web on its timeslot. Starred by Glaiza de Castro and Xian Lim, the new Kapuso drama rated 9.6%.
What was surprising–the Coco Martin-starrer has been so far, unable to sustain its place within the top 3, as False Positive quickly climbed the chart and nudged FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano off its place. On Wednesday, May 4, the Kapuso series managed to pull off a 10.4% AGB Nielsen people rating, which is higher than the Kapamilya series’s 9.6%. False Positive’s victory continued the next day, May 5, as AGB Nielsen reported the show to have achieved a stellar 10% people rating, higher than FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s 9.8%.
However, one must note, that the ABS-CBN drama does not go head-to-head with False Positive, as the latter airs on the same timeslot as The Broken Marriage Vow. AGB Nielsen’s National Urban TV Measurement (NUTAM) reports that the Kapuso series is way ahead of its Kapamilya counterpart in TV rating, despite the latter’s massive online popularity.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, on the other hand, directly competes with GMA Network’s First Lady, which has been virtually untouched as the most-watched drama in the country since it debuted in February this year.
Be that as it may, it is important to note that, unlike its Kapuso counterparts, ABS-CBN shows now reach fewer free TV audiences. That makes the high TV ratings that the show has been getting since the ABS-CBN shutdown, still commendable and beyond outstanding.
