Kapamilya actress Iza Calzado wowed netizens and personalities as the official trailer for the upcoming ABS-CBN superheroine Mars Ravelo’s Darna was aired on Thursday, July 7.
In a three-minute preview, Calzado, who plays Leonor (the first Darna), trains Narda (Jane de Leon) as she is destined to inherit the magical stone that turns them into Darna.
Netizens have recalled that she was the first choice of GMA Network to star in their 2005 Darna: The TV Series. Angel Locsin eventually ended up playing the role.
In ABS-CBN’s remake version, the actress played the role but would only do so as a background story of how Narda becomes Darna.
Twitter personality Mark Francis Mahusay pointed out that Calzado’s participation in the Kapamilya series is her way of “reclaiming the ‘stone.'”
