Jennica Garcia recounts her mom’s advice to reach out to Dreamscape about getting a project

At the media conference for the Kapamilya revenge-series, Dirty Linen, which LionhearTV covered on January 17, Jennica Garcia recounted her mom, Jean Garcia’s advice about approaching Dreamscape Entertainment head Deo Endrinal.

“Tapos hindi ko po nakalimutan ‘yung sinabi sa akin ni Mama noon, matagal na ‘yun na parang sinabi niya na, ‘Anak, just in case na maisip mo na gusto mo with ABS-CBN, gusto ko alam mo that sir Deo is a very trusted friend of mine and you can go to him.'”

She also recalled her showbiz journey, citing her struggles when she returned to making teleseryes.

“Bale seven years po akong nag-artista, seven years din po akong tumigil. Pagbalik ko po, nakagawa ng isang proyekto tapos wala na pong sumunod, tapos it was almost six months of no work. And so I sent a viber message to sir Deo asking–asking for work.

“Kasi wala po akong kilala from ABS-CBN.”

She also noted that she planned to be an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) if she would not have any projects.

“Kasi ‘yung time po na ‘yun inisip ko, na sige ito na, kakapalan ko na ‘yung mukha ko. Sabi ko, magme-message na lang ako. Kasi, dalawa na rin po ang anak ko and iniisip ko po noon na sige okay lang, kapag hindi ako mabigyan mag-o-OFW na ang ako kasi kumbaga ito lang talaga ang alam kong trabaho eh, ang pag-aartista. So, ang isa ko naiisip ay mag-ibang bansa.”

She then shared her mindset when she got the role in Dirty Linen, citing how she devoted herself to the character.

“Kaya po ‘yung pressure po talaga, bago ko pa po sila makita nandito na, kasi alam ko na hindi ‘to– kumbaga I’m very aware that they didn’t think of when the writers we’re making Lala when they were making the character that she is today.

“So pinag-igihan ko po talaga kasi para sa akin ang dami kong kailangan patunayan at ayaw kong mapahiya si sir Deo. Ayaw ko po ‘yung parang, ilagay dito kasi sinabi ni sir Deo. Gusto ko, sabi ko, kapag umere ‘yung serye, maiisip ng mga boss ko na tama, dapat siya nga si Lala.”

As for the upcoming Kapamilya series, Dirty Linen stars Janine Gutierrez, Zanjoe Marudo, Francine Diaz, and Seth Fedelin.

The series also features an ensemble cast with Garcia, Dolly De Leon, Janice de Belen, Joel Torre, Susan Africa, Tessie Tomas, Soliman Cruz, Epy Quizon, John Arcilla, Tessie Tomas, JC Santos, Xyriel Manabat, Raven Rigor, and Christian Bables.

Joining them are Aubrey Miles, Andrea Del Rosario, Karl Medina, Apey Obera, Tart Carlos, CJ Navato, Ana Abad Santos, Nanding Josef, and Rubi-Rubi.

Dirty Linen, directed by Andoy Ranay and Onat Diaz, airs on January 23 on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, Jeepney TV, A2Z, TV5, iWantTFC, and TFC.
