On January 26, Kapuso singer Garrett Bolden highlighted how he resonated with his latest single, the cover of Kris Lawrence’s song Ikaw Pala.
At the media conference for his album Chapters, Bolden cited how Ikaw Pala reflected on the latest chapter in his life wherein he is ‘clearly seeing’ his purpose as a singer.
“If I were in that chapter of my life, and the song that would represent is my latest single, which is Ikaw Pala, kasi it not only talks about having a relationship at the moment, pero hindi ‘yun ‘yung–I think it’s because now, I’m clearly seeing the purpose of me being here–and [doing] my career. And ito pala ‘yung hinahanap ko, ito pala ‘yung gusto kong gawin na ito ‘yung passion ko, at love kong gawin at i-share.”
He also discussed his new album Chapters, noting that it is a compilation of all the songs he released when he started with GMA Network’s The Clash.
“The songs in this album is the compilation of the songs that I have since I started joining GMA Music and also graduating The Clash. And, part of the songs that [are] in this album are some of my own written songs as well.”
He then explained how Ikaw Pala wrapped up the songs in his album through its uplifting, feel-good melody.
“And the latest one– [which is] Ikaw Pala, is a revival of Kris Lawrence’s hit back in the 2000s. And I picked this song because the message is [really] nice, and it [really] gives me that [warmth]–feeling. Because some of the [songs] in this album– some of them are sad, really sad, some are really uplifting, and this time, it’s a feel-good song.
“It talks about finding out that you are choosing the right person or the right one. I think it completes the album because the whole album in itself, Chapters, is a story of — from, how can I say– it’s a narrative point of how relationships are from ligawan up to a point na naging kayo, nagkaroon ng problema, naghiwalay, and then by the end of the day, which wraps up this album, ‘yung Ikaw Pala, that you really realize na siya pala ‘yung parte ng buhay na kailangan mo.”
Chapters contains five songs highlighting Bolden’s journey in music and life.
It includes singles such as Lilipad Na, Handa Na Maghintay, Our Love, Pwede Pa Ba, and its carrier single, the revival of Kris Lawrence’s song, Ikaw Pala.
