The accusation came after the former Kapamilya star’s most recent TV interview with the award-winning showbiz talk show host.
Careless talent Liza Soberano took to national television, yesterday, March 10, to explain her side over the conflicting sentiments that her most recent vlog entry on YouTube, has generated.
Titled This Is Me, the vlog did not only stir Internet discussions, but also triggered several emotions, particularly from her previous ABS-CBN bosses, work colleagues, and close acquaintances. Among those people, is the King of Talk Boy Abunda, who aired his disappointment over Soberano’s vlog, the following day.
“I’m not disgusted but I am extremely disappointed with the vlog. You can proceed with your career, you can redirect your career pero sana you can journey in gratitude,” the TV host said during the episode of his show, Fast Talk, aired February 27.
Such a statement hurt Soberano, who personally admitted her hurt feelings, when she took on the interview chair, yesterday.
“Na-hurt ako kasi feeling ko, of all people, ikaw ‘yung makakaintindi.’Coz I see you as one of the wisest in the industry and sa dami ng pinagdaanan mo, with different personalities; parang you always saw things for what they were,” she told Abunda, unloading how disappointed she was upon learning what the host felt over her ‘rebranding’ announcement.
“(Parang) ang paniwala ko, your judgment isn’t clouded by the noise of the media and by what fans say. I felt misunderstood by you,” she added, sharing that she, later on, realized the TV host’s thought process when her manager, James Reid, explained it to her.
But as fans were expected to rally by her side, the unflattering response from some netizens came unsurprisingly, as well. Many of the comments came out sourly, with some accusing Soberano of gaslighting the TV host.
Gaslighting is a form of toxic behavior when an abuser tries to manipulate the victim by twisting his or her sense of reality.
Twitter user @fangirl_ye, was among the first netizens who alluded to Soberano’s being a gaslighter, saying, “Yung psych student ka pero nang gagaslight ka.”

Similarly, Bruno shared the same sentiment.

Some, however, got boggled by her decision to give an interview to Abunda, and not to her former manager Ogie Diaz.

The second part of Soberano’s interview with Boy Abunda is still set to air on Monday, March 13.
Here’s hoping these new issues get answered in that episode, but Soberano already left for the States on March 8.
