ABS-CBN maintains its position that the noontime show ‘It’s Showtime’ did not commit any violation of pertinent laws or regulations despite the recent suspension imposed by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
In an official statement released in response to the MTRCB’s decision, ABS-CBN reiterated its stance that there was no breach of the law in the show’s content. The network has also expressed its intent to submit a Motion for Reconsideration, challenging the suspension and seeking a review of the ruling.
“We will submit a Motion for Reconsideration as we humbly maintain that there was no violation of pertinent law.”
The MTRCB suspended ‘It’s Showtime’ for a duration of 12 days, starting from the finality of the decision. The suspension resulted from multiple complaints filed by viewers concerning the show’s July 25, 2023 episode, particularly a segment titled ‘Isip Bata,’ during which some of the program’s hosts were accused of acting indecently.
“We are also committed to working with the MTRCB to ensure that “It’s Showtime” can continue to bring joy and entertainment to our noontime viewers.”
ABS-CBN further emphasized its commitment to cooperating with the MTRCB to ensure the show’s compliance with content guidelines and regulations. The network acknowledged the loyalty and support of ‘It’s Showtime’s’ dedicated audience, known as the Madlang People, and expressed gratitude for their unwavering love.
