Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo shared new insights into her breakup with fiancé Dominic Roque, revealing that they decided to call off their engagement after realizing they no longer wanted to get married.
Speaking with Tatler Asia, Bea explained that their relationship had been struggling for months, and despite efforts to work things out, they concluded that marriage was not in their future.
The engagement ended in January, with the public confirmation coming mid-February.
“I saw myself marrying this man. But sometimes, things don’t go according to plan. Sometimes God’s plan is better, and I have learned to embrace that,” Bea said.
She emphasized that the decision to part ways was not made lightly. “Before we announced it, we had been trying to work things out for months. It’s not like it happened overnight; it was a process for both of us,” she added.
Bea expressed gratitude for Dominic’s honesty in acknowledging the issues in their relationship. “I guess I also have to thank him because, had he not been courageous enough actually to acknowledge that there was something wrong in our relationship, I may have continued to be carried away by the pressures of society,” she noted.
She clarified that there was no third party involved and that no one was to blame for the relationship’s failure, despite receiving criticism from netizens. “Even when there’s no cheating involved and the relationship does not work, women still get criticism. The two people in the relationship are the only ones who know the truth. In my case with Dom, we didn’t want to get married anymore,” Bea stated.
