Miss Asia Pacific International 2025 Stages Terno Runway and Benefit Gala in Cebu to Support Operation Smile

The Miss Asia Pacific International (MAPI) 2025 candidates continue to prove that beauty with purpose goes far beyond the stage. Just recently, the candidates came together for a Terno Runway and Benefit Gala in support of Operation Smile Philippines, raising funds to provide free surgeries for children with cleft conditions.

The evening showcased the artistry of Cebuanos through the terno, the Philippines’ national dress, worn with pride and elegance by each candidate. More than a celebration of heritage and style, the gala became a platform for advocacy, with proceeds directed to transforming the lives of children and their families through Operation Smile.

“Every stitch of the terno represents resilience, and every step our candidates took on that runway represents a stride toward brighter futures for children in need,” says Eva Patalinjug-Lim, MAPI President.

The gala reaffirmed MAPI’s commitment to advocacy—demonstrating that beauty and compassion can work hand in hand to create lasting change.

Switching from Pageantry to Relief

But glamour and artistry were not the only story in Cebu. In the midst of the gala, a magnitude-6.9 earthquake struck the province, with the epicenter traced to Bogo City.

In solidarity with the Cebuanos in these trying times, the organization has realigned its activities from scheduled pageant events to immediate relief efforts.

The candidates, alongside MAPI organizers, joined hands with local partners to pack and distribute relief goods, assist in evacuation centers, and provide comfort to families whose homes were destroyed.

From lending hands in relief operations to stepping onto the runway for charity, the MAPI candidates showcased what it means to be women of action—resilient, compassionate, and ready to respond when communities need them most.

This unexpected shift revealed the true essence of the MAPI women, that pageantry does not retreat in times of crisis, but steps forward to serve. What could have been days defined by glamour became days defined by humanity and resilience, with candidates from different parts of the world coming together to show solidarity with Cebuanos facing loss and hardship.

#HerStoryAblaze: Purpose and Strength For Others

The resilience of the Cebuanos, who continue to rise from adversity with courage and unity, found a mirror in the MAPI candidates—modern women who are reshaping the definition of pageantry by fusing purpose with beauty.

As modern women, these candidates are no longer defined only by beauty onstage, but by their ability to adapt, to care, and to lead with compassion. In Cebu, they stood shoulder to shoulder with survivors, proving that grace is most meaningful when it is paired with action.

By taking part in relief efforts and standing in solidarity with affected families, the MAPI candidates showed the very essence of this year’s theme, #HerStoryAblaze, which highlights stories of women igniting hope, inspiring change, and transforming challenges into opportunities to uplift others.

Next Steps Toward the Crown

With Cebu’s strength as their inspiration, the Miss Asia Pacific International 2025 candidates move forward to their journey with deeper meaning. Pre-judging activities are set to resume on October 6, culminating in the Coronation Night on October 8 at the Cebu Coliseum.

These next steps are no longer just about competing with each other and bringing home the crown, but about honoring resilience, celebrating purpose, and sharing to the world what it means to keep #HerStoryAblaze—a story of beauty, courage, and compassion rising even after the ground has shaken.
