Actress Angelica Panganiban did not hold back when asked to react to comedian Vice Ganda’s recent remarks encouraging people to speak up against wrongdoing.

Vice Ganda, known for being outspoken about social issues, recently said on It’s Showtime that people should not remain silent when they witness something wrong.
“Kung may napapansin ka na mali o hindi tama, ‘wag tayong mawalan ng boses o matakot na i-call out ito. Kasi kung wala kang ginawa sa gitna ng kasamaan, bahagi ka na rin nito,” the comedian said.
During the media conference for the upcoming series ‘The Silent Noise,’ Panganiban was asked whether she agrees with Vice Ganda’s statement and why some people still choose to remain silent despite witnessing wrongdoing.
The actress said fear is often the main reason.
“I think nananatili tayong tahimik dahil sa fear. Sa fear na ini-impose sa atin ng society, kung nasaan man tayo o kahit anong institution ang pinasok natin,” she explained.
According to Panganiban, overcoming fear is the first step toward speaking out.
“Kailangan kasi mawala ang fear. ‘Yun ang pinakaunang dapat mawala. Magsasalita ka lang naman kung matapang ka. So kailangan matira sa atin ang tapang,” she said.
She added that people who know they are standing for what is right should not be afraid to speak up.
“And kapag tama ka, wala kang dapat ikatakot. Kailangan mong mag-speak up. Hindi ‘yon para sa iyo lang. Hindi rin lang naman ikaw ang makikinabang,” she said.
Panganiban acknowledged that speaking out can come with risks, but she stressed that it is necessary if people want to see real change.
“All the more, ikaw pa nga ‘yung mapasama. Pero kailangan mong mag-speak up kung gusto mo ng pagbabago. Kailangan mong magsalita.”
The actress emphasized that keeping the truth hidden can only make matters worse.
“Lahat ng tinatago, lahat ng iniipon, bumabaho,” she stressed.
“So tama, magiging parte ka ng mali kung hindi ka nakisali doon sa tama.”
Panganiban’s remarks align with the central theme of ‘The Silent Noise,’ a suspense-drama series that explores the consequences of silence and hidden truths.
In the series, Panganiban plays Jackie, a mother to a deaf child named Eli. Their lives are shaken after the death of Eli’s tutor Sam, played by Mylene Dizon. The situation becomes more complicated when it is revealed that Jackie’s husband, portrayed by Zanjoe Marudo, may have had an affair—or what appears to be one—with the tutor before her death.
The 10-episode series promises intense drama and mystery as the characters try to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident.
‘The Silent Noise’ will premiere on Prime Video on March 20, with two new episodes set to be released every Friday.
