Bea Borres admits losing hope in the Philippines amid political issues

Social media personality and actress Bea Borres spoke out about the ongoing political tensions in the country, admitting that she has started losing hope in the Philippines despite previously using her platform to speak against corruption.

In a Facebook post published Thursday, May 14, Bea expressed her frustration over what she described as the lack of accountability among government officials.

“After using my platforms to speak up against corruption, I’m sorry but I have lost hope in our country,” Bea wrote.

According to the content creator, she has long been vocal about political and social issues, but she eventually felt discouraged seeing that nothing seemed to change.

“I’ve been speaking up against corruption in our country ever since before, but ikaw nalang talaga mawawalan ng gana because the reality is, no one is being held accountable,” she added.

Bea also recalled receiving death threats in the past because of her opinions online, revealing that she once considered hiring a bodyguard for her safety.

“It also puts my life at risk. I remember wanting to hire a bodyguard because I got death threats just for speaking up about my opinions,” she shared.

Despite her frustrations, Bea Borres clarified that she still loves the Philippines, although she strongly criticized the current state of governance.

“I love the Philippines, but our government is a joke,” she stated.

She also addressed critics who questioned her for following certain “nepo babies” or personalities connected to political families on social media.

“No matter how much y’all cancel these nepo babies online, their lives still go on. So don’t cancel me just because I follow them,” she explained.

Bea further reflected on how ironic democracy can feel for ordinary citizens who continue demanding better governance but rarely see real accountability.

“Like what I always say, the Philippines is a democracy and we’re the ones who put these politicians in power, but it’s so ironic because no matter how much we cry out for better governance, none of them are being held accountable. Nakakawala ng gana, diba?” she added.

In another post, Bea admitted that while she still has strong opinions about the country’s political climate, she no longer wants to risk her safety because she now has a daughter to take care of.

“It’s just not worth it for me anymore,” she said.

Bea Borres joins several Filipino celebrities and public personalities who recently spoke out regarding the political tensions surrounding the Senate and issues involving Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa, including Kim Chiu, Bianca Gonzalez, Bela Padilla, and Janine Gutierrez.
