Solane officially launched the AlabKalinga Community Kitchen on June 28 in Brgy. Bigke, Leganes, Iloilo. The free community cooking initiative brought together over 70 households to provide immediate, practical support for families facing everyday challenges.

Community members, partners, and Solane representatives come together during the inaugural AlabKalinga Community Kitchen in Brgy. Bigke, Leganes, Iloilo.

With rising costs squeezing family budgets, Solane is stepping up with AlabKalinga. Inspired by the spirit of bayanihan, this program brings safe cooking knowledge, accessible LPG solutions, and essential kitchen supplies straight to your community. The goal is simple: help Filipino families keep serving warm, home-cooked meals while easing the burdens they face.

Beyond promoting safe cooking, the program creates meaningful opportunities for families and neighbors to connect, learn from one another, and strengthen the Filipino spirit of bayanihan. The event brought neighbors together to exchange recipes and cooking tips, sample each other’s dishes, and proudly share their own creations. It strengthened community ties and fostered a spirit of generosity and connection.

“Ma’am, tikman niyo po,” became a familiar invitation throughout the day as participants enthusiastically shared their finished meals. The experience highlighted how gathering around food can break barriers, spark conversations, and strengthen relationships among neighbors.

Beyond fostering community connections, the Community Kitchen introduced residents to the benefits of cooking with LPG through hands-on demonstrations and practical learning. The program featured an educational talk by Marcus Dubria, Plant Manager of Solane’s Leganes Plant, on the benefits and proper use of LPG, followed by a safety session conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) on safe LPG practices, emergency response, and key safety reminders. Participants also experienced how LPG enables faster, cleaner, and more convenient cooking, highlighting how it can help make everyday meal preparation easier for families.

Residents of Brgy. Bigke take part in a hands- on cooking demonstration during the AlabKalinga Community Kitchen, experiencing the convenience and benefits of safe cooking with LPG.

One participant shared that while she had long wanted to switch to LPG, affordability had been a challenge. Through the activity, she learned about Solane’s 1.4kg LPG cylinder—an accessible option that offers a practical solution for smaller households. For her and many others, the experience helped reshape their perception of LPG as an investment in their family’s everyday convenience and peace of mind.

The AlabKalinga Community Kitchen Program is offered for free to Filipino families and was designed to make practical knowledge and everyday cooking resources more accessible. By educating the participants with safe cooking practices, introducing affordable LPG options, and providing take-home essentials, the program aims to help households manage daily expenses while making meal preparation safer and more convenient.

“AlabKalinga reflects Solane’s commitment to supporting Filipino families in ways that go beyond providing safe cooking solutions. We want to create spaces where communities can learn, connect, and strengthen the spirit of bayanihan. When families feel safe and empowered in their everyday lives, they can focus on what matters most—caring for one another and building a better future together,” Pia Isabelle Bernabe, Senior Brand Manager of Solane.

As part of the free community initiative, through the collective support of Home Essence, Masflex, Hanabishi, WOW Pasta, Le Minerale, Mega Sardines, and Solane, participants received loot bags and raffle prizes to support their families beyond the event. More than providing practical assistance, the collaboration reflected the brands’ shared commitment to bayanihan—bringing together brands that share the same values to create a greater impact and uplift Filipino communities.

Through AlabKalinga, Solane continues to create meaningful opportunities that strengthen communities beyond the kitchen. By bringing people together, sharing practical knowledge, and supporting everyday Filipino families, the initiative demonstrates that even simple moments can inspire lasting connections and build more resilient communities.
