Sabrina proves her popularity and charm once again in Indonesia!

In her very first commercial concert in Indonesia, our very own Asia’s Acoustic Sweetheart, Sabrina once again proved her popularity and charm in a concert simply titled Sabrina Live in Malang!

Held last May 18 at the GrahaCakrawala UM, produced by the Electrical Science students of Brawijaya University in Malang City, Indonesia.  Said concert was the culminating event of the 2013 Essentials Electrical Science and Art Festival.  Flocked by no less than 2,500 people, the concert that featured Sabrina’s solo-acoustic performance showed her devoted talent in singing and playing guitar for more than an hour of performance rendering a total of fourteen songs, all from her albums and including two of her very own original compositions to the delight of the crowd.

She arrived in Jakarta midnight of May 16, took the flight to Surabaya in the morning and trooped another two hour drive to Malang.  Starting at 3PM,  she’s already doing courtesy visit for the sponsors at Andromeda Café and Music, a radio guesting at MFM radio followed and towards dinner, press interview coupled with meet and greet was done at Comic Café, a popular hang-out bar and restaurant in Malang.

Heavy rains did not dishearten the supporters as more people actually turned out than were expected.  The support and adulation of Malang were truly overwhelming.  From the first song down to the encore, everyone was enjoying and singing along to Sabrina’s acoustic rendition of popular hits.  Sabrina herself enjoyed every minute of her performance giving her all – she sang, played guitar, swayed, shared stories to give her audience a very entertaining time of their lives.  On her own, she was surprising enough for the audience.

Her 14 song line-up opened with Call Me Maybe followed by When You Say Nothing At All.  Overly surprised with the attendance, she took time to extend her gratitude to everyone then pickedher guitar and did We Found Love and A Thousand Years.  She then featured her version of Christian Bautista’s The Way You Look at Me which is also the current theme song of GMA7’s Koreanovela “I Do, I Do”.

Nearing the middle of her set came one of the many highlights of the concert.  She shared the many blessings that came in 2012 that also enabled her to pursue songwriting, everyone cheered and clapped and at this time she realized that it was truly something her supporters had been wanting to hear and know.  Fulfilling that urge, she did One True Love, her original song and the entire venue easily turned nostalgic.  Enjoying a great run, she once again picked her guitar and switched to her cheery version of Baby followed by a favorite pop-rock ballad Iris and then the romantic songTerrified.

The next batch of songs were equally exciting both for Sabrina and for the audience.  She did another original composition Oh Boy and segued to her English version of Could It Be, a popular song in Indonesia originally done byRaisa.  Approaching the end of her set, she took the chance to invite everyone to join her in twitter and facebook and once more thanked the organizers, sponsors and the audience for their much appreciated support.  Her closing songs Moves LikeJaggerand Rolling In The Deep were just not enoughto end the show, a loud cheer of “more, more, more” erupted prompting her to stay for another song.  She ended the concert with another sing-along piece We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

“This is a truly wonderful experience, a genuine milestone in my life both as an artist and as a person,” Sabrina said.

Her 4-day visit to Indonesia was capped by a 2 day promo in Jakarta for her albums “I Love Acoustic 5” and “I Love Acoustic: Sweetheart Edition”.  She performed We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together in Trans TV program called Indonesia MencariBakat, Jakarta’s popular talent search show during the show’s all-star showcase featuring the past winners.  On her last day, May 20, she spent for media interviews at the Universal Music Indonesia Office with Gadis Magazine, Cleo Magazine, Nova Tabloid, Chic Magazine, Creativedisc.com, JawaPos Newspaper and Flagig.com

She met and shared some quality time with her Universal Music Indonesia family and was eagerly surprised to see her special award in the conference room.

“Seeing in person the 10x platinum award at the UMG Indonesia office was undeniably a special treat that gave me goose bumps.” Sabrina expressed.

The next trip was a twitter conference and interview with Indonesia’s biggest online entertainment site – Kapanlagi.com where she also rendered 3 songs – We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, Terrified and One True Love.  It was followed by an hour long radio guesting at OZ Radio Jakarta which featured selected tracks from her albums, interview and a live performance of One True Love.  The last but certainly not the least was another radio guesting at Indika FM, another hour featuring a playlist of Sabrina’s songs, interview and live performance  –Payphone, A Thousand Years and One True Love.

“It was an amazing tour. You’ll forget all the long travels, long lay over at the airport, traffic, lack of sleep and very tight flight schedules.  Everything turned-out well and exceeded all expectations.  I’m so grateful for all the love and support everyone showed me and I thank God for all his abundant blessings.” She added.

Sabrina’s albums: I Love Acoustic 1-5 and Acoustic Love Notes are all under MCA Music Inc.(Universal Music Philippines) and are available in all leading record stores nationwide and online via iTunes.
