The cast managed to attract throngs of supporters—a crowd estimate of 11,000 and 5,000 according to Gaisano Grand Mall Mactan and SM City Cebu, respectively—something very unusual to see on a weekday afternoon.
Carla, who plays the role of a martyr wife named Lally in the series, was deeply overwhelmed with joy upon knowing that majority of the crowd sympathizes with her character. “In fairness, love ko ang Cebu. Buti na lang team Lally sila at ang dami talagang posters and signages. Nakakatuwa kasi I know, not only are they my fans pero siguro marami sa kanila ang nakaka-relate kay Lally.”
When asked what quality of Lally she admires the most, Carla shared, “Her unbelievable amount of strength. Hindi mo kasi alam kung saan nanggagaling eh. Although she grew up na maraming pinagdaanang obstacles, lumaki na single parent ‘yung mom at may mga financial difficulties, it is still a question for me, where does she get the enough motivation. Well, I guess from her children.”
As for Tom, a proud Waray who fluently speaks the Philippine native Visayan dialect couldn’t thank God enough for the countless blessings he’s been constantly receiving. “I don’t know and I don’t even wanna question. I thank God for all the blessings he has given me. This year has been non-stop in my professional and personal life. I am just so thankful.”
Further, he related how lucky he is to become part of a series that is able to open intelligent discussions about life. “It’s just really nice that the show opens a lot of talks which has been rare for the past few years in television. That’s why I’m really happy and blessed to become a part of one that is doing just that.”
Meanwhile, Dennis who portrays the role of Tom’s gay lover in the series shared how dedicated their team is to make every episode of the show more interesting. “Seryoso kaming lahat sa trabaho namin. Kaya siguro ganito na lang din ‘yung reward na natatanggap namin. Maaga pa lang naramdaman na namin na tatangkilikin ‘yung show at everyday nadadagdagan ‘yung pagkabilib rin namin sa nagagawa ng pagtatrabaho na binibigay mo ‘yung best mo talaga.”
Unlike the others who auditioned, Dennis was given the chance to choose between Eric and Vincent and he chose to play the role of Eric because, “Nagsawa na rin siguro ako sa mga roles na pinortray ko na madalas ako ‘yung asawa so minabuti kong piliin ‘yung bading para may bago naman akong ginagawa. Pinaghandaan ko ito by observing ‘yung mga taong nakakasalamuha ko araw-araw. From there, nakakakuha ako ng mga iba’t ibang characters which I am able to apply sa role ko as Eric,” he said.
After invading Cebu, the cast of My Husband’s Lover is set to conquer the country’s Durian Capital—Davao City—on August 15, as part of the Network’s participation in this year’s Kadayawan Festival. Dennis, Tom, and Carla, together with Bettina will banner the Kapuso Barangayan at Barangay Rafael Castillo Covered Court in Agdao, Davao City at 2pm and the Kapuso Mall Show at the Kadayawan Hall of NCCC Mall of Davao at 4pm.
