QUEZON CITY, Philippines — 2017 marks Philippine Educational Theater Association’s (PETA) 50th year in the industry.
As PETA prepares to celebrate its five decades of theater practice, the company’s leaders headed by President, Cecilia B. Garrucho, took on the challenging task of building an endowment fund that ensures that PETA’s work continues beyond 50 years.
“PETA’s commitment to its vision remains steadfast. However it needs a viable and long term solution to sustain its mission,” Garrucho shares.
The PETA Endowment Fund will allow PETA to continue its cultural work, to develop a new generation of artists, as well as provide a chance for those who do not have financial resources to gain access to PETA’s unique creative programs.
Last year, PETA launched a five-year endowment fund entitled, Taking PETA Beyond 50, which aims to raise 50 Million in time for PETA’s 50th Anniversary. The campaign was launched during Noel Cabangon’s Tuloy ang Byahe concert at the Music Museum last year, which was so successful, it prompted an encore held December of the same year at The PETA Theater Center. Cabangon, also a PETA member, became instrumental in providing significant opportunities for PETA.
Despite his success in the music industry and his current ‘rockstar’ status, the multi-awarded singer-songwriter, still recognizes PETA as one of his core foundations as an artist.
“It’s also my duty to help my organization” Cabangon shares.
Through him, other music icons, such as Ogie Alcasid, Jim Paredes, Buboy Garovillo, Christian Baustista, Gloc-9, Chito Miranda, Aiza Seguerra and Ely Buendia, also participated as guest performers in the fundraising concerts.
Now, exactly a year after the campaign was launched, PETA is fortunate to have another music icon, Ely Buendia, perform on its stage. Buendia is scheduled to perform in a one-night-only benefit concert on Saturday, September 20 at 8:00 p.m. at The PETA Theater Center. The singer-songwriter, endorser and advocate, who currently fronts two bands, Pupil and The Oktaves, will be singing some of his greatest hits. Buendia’s repertoire will consist of tracks that ruled the airwaves in the 90’s. The concert entitled Ely Buendia Sings for PETA, is a rare chance to watch Buendia up-close and personal in an intimate 400-seater black box theater.
Tickets for the concert are P1000 (balcony side), P2000 (orchestra side, balcony center), P2500 (orchestra center), P5000 (VIP). Contact 725-6244 or 0917-518 3654 to reserve. Tickets are also available at TicketWorld through www.ticketworld.com.ph or call 891-9999. The concert will be held at The PETA Theater Center located at No. 5 Eymard Drive, New Manila, Quezon City. All proceeds of the concert will go to PETA’s Endowment Fund.
