Author Jessica Zafra will give a series of talks on the first Saturday of each month at the Ayala Museum in Makati.

On Saturday, August 2, she tackles the horrors, anxieties, pleasures and rewards of the writing life in the Philippines in a talk entitled, “Don’t Be A Writer.”

Pop culture and nerd history take center stage in “Game of Thrones, Fantasy Epics and Geek Civilization” on September 6. Jessica discusses the television series based on the books by George R.R. Martin, and how it derives its twisted plots from real history, myth, and the classics of fantasy fiction.

On October 4, she reports on the progress of the Filipino campaign for World Domination, twenty years after she wrote about the plan to take over the world by putting a Filipino yaya in the households of the rich and powerful.

Jessica’s latest books Geeks Vs Jocks, a collection of her essays on sports, politics and movies, and The Stories So Far, her second collection of short stories, will be available at the talks. Each lecture is followed by a book-signing.

The lectures will be held at the lobby of the Ayala Museum from 3-5pm. Tickets cost Php350 for each lecture, with a package rate of Php950 for the three lectures
. The price of the ticket includes a full-day pass to the Ayala Museum exhibitions and an exclusive e-book by Jessica Zafra (a different e-book per lecture). A discounted rate of Php250 per lecture and Php650 for the three lectures will be given to students, teachers, senior citizens and Ayala Museum members.

Tickets are now available at the Ayala Museum reception counter. For inquiries contact 759 8288, email education@ayalamuseum.org or visit the Ayala Museum at Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/ theayalamuseum.
