August 22, 2014 – Mall of Asia Arena is announced as the partner of the “Manila Mavericks” and official house of the International Premier Tennis League in the Philippines.
Mall of Asia Arena, the architectural ‘eye’con under lifestyle and entertainment solutions company, SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. will host the inaugural International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) season from November 28 – 30, 2014, bringing to the city some of the world’s finest tennis stars for an epic three-day display of sport and entertainment. During the three-day extravaganza, the Manila Mavericks will take on the UAE Royals, Singapore Slammers, and Indian Aces for the winning team’s purse of USD 1 million.
The IPTL is a unique team-based tennis league founded by multiple grand-slam tennis winner, India’s Mahesh Bhupathi. Featuring 21 Grand Slam Champions and 14 World Number Ones, the league will play across 4 countries in Asia namely in Manila, Singapore, India, and Dubai from November 28 to December 13, 2014. The ‘Manila Mavericks’ boast of Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray, teammates Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Kirsten Flipkens, Daniel Nestor, Carlos Moya, and top Philippine player Treat Huey. Other key players to participate in Manila are: Serena Williams, Thomas Berdych, Lleyton Hewitt, and Patrick Rafter for the Singapore Slammers, Ana Ivanovic, Gael Monfils, and Fabrice Santoro for the Indian Aces, and Richard Gasquet, Goran Ivanisevic, and Eugenie Bouchard for the UAE Royals.
As official home of the International Premier Tennis League, Assistant Vice President of Mall of Asia Arena Arnel Gonzales adds, “We are very excited to house the IPTL. A premier tennis league deserves a premium venue with top-notch facilities. It is our goal to be an international tourist destination and to be home to the world’s best international and local acts. The IPTL will give the Philippine Tennis fans, families, and young adults a world-class stage to watch the best current ATP and WTA players up close and personal as they compete for team victory.

American rock group Mr. Big is coming to town! With the promise to sing their greatest hits such as ‘Green-Tinted Sixties Mind’ Mr. Big, will be performing at the Mall of Asia Arena on October 31. 11-time NBA All-Star Allen Iverson is coming to the Philippines as a coach for the “All In” Basketball Game on November 5. The “All In” Basketball Game is a charity event for the benefit of Gawad Kalinga. Popular Christian Artist Tommy Walker will be performing for the benefit of the Typhoon Yolanda Survivors. “Tommy Walker: Live in Manila” is on November 11. The International Premiere Tennis League brings world renowned tennis players to battle it out for the grand title. Be part of the action on November 28-30.
