Boy Abunda talks about Maine Mendoza’s road to superstardom

During the recent interview with Boy Abunda, the Philippines’ “King of Talk”, he states that Maine Mendoza a.k.a Yaya Dub is really a superstar. He actually said, “Maine Mendoza is a superstar recruited by mainstream TV”.

2015_sept19_show6 reported that Abunda also added during his presscon interview in a business partnership launching with GoodAh!!!, that this could be the main reason why his colleagues is now making their clever ways to go with the waves of social media.

Maine Mendoza was discovered by TAPE Inc. making dubsmash videos that caters millions of views online. He  cited that social media have a great impact and contributes to the  decrease in number of spectators of the mainstream TV.


Moreover Tito Boy said, “We’re moving towards the direction where both [social and mainstream media] have no choice but to co-exist. Social media has no clear-cut business model. You can be a superstar on social media, but you don’t earn your keep. That’s what mainstream media, or TV has.”

He conformed that they did not lose hope on promoting news and entertainment on both on social media and mainstream TV. He stated that he wants to go with social media, but with one condition: “I will only use elements I feel are useful to me as practitioner.”

Actually, in about two months, Abunda will be launching his first website called It is very obvious that Abunda is really excited in expressing himself in this new platform. He even cited that, “That’s how I’m gonna leverage using my brand as I go into a social media platform.”


Meanwhile, Maine Mendoza a.k.a Yaya Dub, the dubsmash queen, together with her partner Alden Richards, really made social media enthusiasts and TV viewers go crazy with their latest oncscreen pair.
