“So Happy Together” (2004)
This rom-com focuses on the 30-year long friendship between Lianne (Kris Aquino) and Osmond (Eric Quizon), who met on a gay parade in the 1980’s. Osmond thought Lianne is gay, which Lianne found irritating. Although their initial impression was quite awkward, they ended up as inseparable friends for decades.
Written by multi-awarded Ricardo Lee, Director Joel Lamangan and Regal matriarch Lily Monteverde, the film manages to present the scenes of the gay character Osmond in a realistic and sometimes comic manner. Lamangan’s masterful direction makes the film wholesome, despite the sensitivity of the material. He makes Osmond a very lovable character, worthy of praise and admiration, despite his sexual orientation.
